Where?/When?: 292 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236 (Old Value City Department Store)/Thursday-Friday, Sept. 22-23, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 24, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Why Go?: This huge consignment sale will feature thousands of high-quality children's items, including clothes, toys, strollers, shoes, books and more.

Where?/When?: Pizza Hut in Brentwood Towne Square/Thursday, Sept. 22, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Why Go?: The Pizza Hut along Route 51 in Brentwood Towne Squareis helping to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The restaurant will donate 10-to-15 percent of its sales on Thursday to patrons who state that they wish that a portion of their bill go toward fighting leukemia and lymphoma. This applies to all take-out and dine-in orders.

Where?/When?: Hollywood Theater/Thursday, Sept. 22, 6-10 p.m.
Why Go?: Meet 2009 CNN Hero Betty Makoni at a screening of the documentary Tapestries of Hope. This award-winning film by Michealene Risley exposes the myth, widely held in Africa, that raping a virgin cures a man of HIV. In the voices of young girls and Makoni herself, the film also details Makoni's struggles and triumphs in creating the Girl Child Networks Worldwide of shelters for abused girls. The celebration of hope begins with appetizers and music at 6 p.m. The film shows at 7 p.m., and there will be a Q-and-A session with Makoni afterward. All proceeds from this all-volunteer event go to the Girl Child Networks. Most of the event organizers are from neighborhoods, businesses, and churches in Pittsburgh's South Hills area.

Where?/When?:  Stadium/Thursday, Sept. 22, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Why Go?: Check out Baldwin High's annual Homecoming Carnival for a night filled with fun, games and delicious food! The Baldwin marching band and cheerleaders will perform, and a deejay will be playing music all night long! BHS clubs and activities will have yummy treats to enjoy and fun games to play.
Pricing: Varies, but admission is free.

Where?/When?: Baldwin High School Stadium/Friday, Sept. 23, 7:30 p.m.
Why Go?: The Highlanders varsity team will play against Thomas Jefferson High School as part of Baldwin High's 2011 Homecoming festivities. Baldwin officials are
Pricing: Reserved tickets are $6 each per game, and general admission is only $5. Students can purchase tickets for $2 at their school or $5 at the gate.

Where?/When?: Whitehall Community Room/Saturday, Sept. 24, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
Why Go?: The event, which will be benefit the , will be held in the Community Room of the . Call 412-882-6622 if you would like to purchase a table and sell your own items!

Where?/When?: Lowe's/Saturday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: Children will build and decorate their own fire truck using this project kit. The truck is complete with stickers and working sirens.
Pricing: Free with purchase of supplies.

Where?/When?: Michaels/Saturday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: This is a free make-it, take-it event (while supplies last). Children aged 3 and older will make a breakfast plate and chef hat for their American Girl dolls.

Where?/When?: /Saturday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Why Go?: Sarah Jugovic has set out to collect 10,000 bags for her Girl Scout Gold Project. Sarah was inspired by a group of women in Washington County that are collecting plastic store bags and making them into sleeping mats for the homeless. Sarah's goal is to collect 10,000 bags that will make 10 mats. Come support this project by bringing your plastic store bags to the Baldwin Township Municipal Building (adjacent to ), and help Sarah reach her goal.

Where?/When?: /Saturday, Sept. 24, 7 p.m.
Why Go?: The Woodville Plantation presents a special 18th century music concert featuring George Balderose and Richard Hughes. Guests are invited to enjoy an evening of authentic 18th century Scotch-Irish music in the historic surroundings of the parlor at Woodville Plantation in Collier Township. Balderose and Hughes are nationally renowned musicians and experts in Scottish, Irish and Appalachian music. Both musicians are members of the group Road to the Isles. A wine and cheese reception will follow the concert. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
