Frugal Family: Fish for Sale

Need to stock up for Lent?

Christians from around the world will eat a lot of fish over the next several weeks with the Lenten season running from Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, through Easter Sunday, April 8.

And in honor of Lent, the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch's weekly Frugal Family article will feature area deals on fish this week. Enjoy!

1.) Crab
Deal: —you can find one on Sussex Avenue in Baldwin Township—has 4.8-7.27-ounce boxes of Fusia-brand crab rangoon or wontons available for $1.99 each.

2.) Tuna
Deal: —there's one on Curry Hollow Road in Baldwin Borough—is selling five 5-ounce cans of Starkist chunk light tuna (in oil and/or water) for $3.
Good through: Feb. 22, 2012.

3.) Pollock
Deal: —you can find one on Joseph Street in Baldwin Borough—is offering 10-pound boxes of boneless pollock fillets for $16.80 each.

4.) Scrod
Deal: McGinnis Sisters Special Food Stores, which has a location on Route 51 in nearby Brentwood Borough, is selling M.F. Foley-brand Boston scrod for $12.99 per pound.
Good through: Feb. 22, 2012.

5.) Shrimp
Deal: Newly opened  at the Brownsville Plaza in Baldwin Borough has 41-50-count bags of Hannaford-brand raw shrimp for sale at $4.48 each (with use of a Bottom Dollar membership card).
Good through: Feb. 22, 2012.
