Whitehall Resident is Named LLS's Man of the Year

Influential leaders in the Lehigh Valley spent the last 10-weeks competing for the title of Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY), where they utilized their leadership abilities to conduct their own fundraising campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS). Every dollar counted as one vote. 

The winners were announced at the Grand Finale on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville. The night was a celebration of all fourteen candidate’s collective efforts as they enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, live and silent auctions, and dinner and dancing. 

             The 12 candidates collectively raised a record breaking $290,000. Nadder Nejad of Whitehall Township earned the title of Man of the Year and Linora Gula of Easton claimed the title of Eastern Pennsylvania’s Woman of the Year.

Money raised will benefit LLS’ mission to cure blood cancers and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. This year’s fundraising is in honor of two patient heroes; the 2014 Boy & Girl of the Year are Xavier Garcia and Nathalie Rojas.

“We are so grateful for the commitment and generosity of these 12 fine men and women who took a 10-week journey with us to challenge themselves to raise money for a lifesaving cancer research,” said Ellen Rubesin, the Executive Director of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter.
