  medicine\, or education? Help prepare them for these globalized fields 
 with the opportunity to travel to India this summer\, all without leavin
 g the comforts of Philadelphia!Penn&rsquo\;s STARTALK Student Hindi Prog
 ram invites students to join us for a three-week\, language- and culture
 -intensive experience at the University of Pennsylvania!&nbsp\;This year
  the Penn STARTALK Hindi program will run on weekdays from July 9th to J
 uly 27th\, 2012.&nbsp\;Students will learn how to gather their travel do
 cuments in Hindi! How to ask for directions and have a simple conversati
 on! How to board a train! Learn about the architecture and history of In
 dia through images and films! And best of all\, engage in meaningful exc
 hanges with guest speakers as well as with native Hindi speakers living 
 in India (through Skype)!Prior knowledge of Hindi is not required. This 
 summer language and culture program is open to both heritage and non-her
 itage Hindi language students ranging in age from 9th grade to universit
 y undergraduates. Students can enroll in the program for University of P
 ennsylvania college credit or choose a less expensive\, non-credit optio
 n.\nThe program participants will benefit from being taught by highly di
 stinguished Penn faculty members\, graduate students and other experts.&
 nbsp\; Our language and cultural studies programs and staff are internat
 ionally known for their extensive experience in developing programs for 
 high schools.&nbsp\; The instructors will use a Standards &ndash\; based
  curriculum\, high quality learning materials\, and a range of activitie
 s and projects to engage students&rsquo\; to help raise their language s
 kills and interest in South Asia. Field trips\, cultural activities\, an
 d films are part of each program\, and snacks will be provided daily. Th
 is will be an excellent opportunity for students to receive an embedded 
 experience of university life at an Ivy League institution. It will also
  help demonstrate wide\, varied interests on their college applications 
 and resumes\, enabling them to compete more effectively for jobs and oth
 er opportunities in an increasingly global world.&nbsp\;The program has 
 seats for 16 students\, and offers the participants a tremendous opportu
 nity to learn about the languages and cultures of South Asia.&nbsp\;\n&n
