DESCRIPTION:A Day of Fun and Learning Expected at Garden in the Parks Fie
 ld Day\nThe annual Garden in the Parks Field Day sponsored by the Penn S
 tate Master Gardeners of Allegheny County is a day of education and fun 
 for all ages. The free event will be held at the North and South Park De
 monstration Gardens on August 18\, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.\nThe North Par
 k demonstration garden is located at the intersection of Wildwood Road a
 nd Babcock Boulevard.&nbsp\; The South park garden is at the intersectio
 n of Corrigan Drive and McConkey Road.\nThe day features guided tours of
  the annual flower trials\, pollinator gardens and herb gardens\, childr
 en&rsquo\;s activities\, and information on native pollinators\, herbs\,
  compostingand rain barrels.&nbsp\; Stations will be set up where visito
 rs can sample different varieties of garlic\, basil\, tomatoes\, and vin
 egars and vote on their favorites. Visitors will have a chance to talk w
 ith local beekeepers and learn about raising bees and harvesting honey. 
 Also\, master gardeners will be on hand to answer questions\, diagnose p
 roblems\, and identify plants.\nThose interested in canning\, drying or 
 freezing their garden&rsquo\;s bounty can speak with a Penn State Master
  Food Preserver who will answer any questions about the process of prese
 rving fresh fruits and vegetables. Free testing of the pressure cooker d
 ial gauges also will be offered.\nMaster gardeners will be selling their
  own fresh produce\, and an assortment of perennials\, fresh cut flowers
 \, and gardening items at the garden market.&nbsp\; Soil Tests kits will
