Childbirth Preparation is an eight-hour childbirth program that focuses on the natural birthing experience. This comprehensive course highlights the following topics: the birth process, signs of labor, when to call your doctor, pain management techniques, paced breathing, relaxation techniques and medication and anesthesia options during labor and delivery. This course facilitates practice for comfort and relaxation strategies and the birth coach's support role. Childbirth Preparation is offered over four consecutive weeks or as a one or two day intensive program. Expectant parents should schedule this course by the second trimester of pregnancy to ensure class availability and complete course 3-4 weeks prior to due dates.
