The promotion comes at the same time as Giant Eagle's.

One day after Giant Eagle officials announced a 20-cent fuelperks! promotion, Shop 'n Save officials contacted Patch to tell us about their stores' 20-cent Pump Perks happening during the same time duration. Shop 'n Save shoppers will receive 20 cents off per gallon of gas for every $50 that they spend on groceries from May 16 through 29. Spring Means Seedlings, Sprouts and Sustainability at Local Farms

Whether they are in the city or country, there are places near home where you can find fresh produce—or get seedlings to grow your own.

To every thing there is a season—and we are in the season of planting. Despite the frost warnings this week, May is the time when many plants take root. And not far behind are the early harvests. There are a number of local farms that provide a variety of seedlings and sprouts, produce, and other products as the growing season progresses. Some are out in the country, while others are urban farms. (Check out the video in this article's media gallery of Garden Dreams Urban Farm & Nursery in Wilkinsburg.) According to the LocalHarvest.org website, most produce in the United States is picked 4-7 days before being placed on supermarket shelves and is shipped for an average of 1,500 miles before being sold. Fortunately for Baldwin-Whitehall …

Baldwin Township Officials Reduce Millage Rate

The local commissioners played wait-and-see with property assessments appeals.

Though some property owners won't be able to tell, the real estate property tax, or millage, rate actually dropped almost 2 full points in Baldwin Township from 2012 to 2013. The township's board of commissioners has decided on a rate of 7.80 mills for this year, down from 9.50 the previous year. However, due to a recent countywide real estate reassessment that raised the value of most Baldwin properties, many property owners in the township will still see an increase in the amount of tax dollars that they'll be responsible for this year.
