If you are even halfway into musical theater, this is a great, GREAT show to see! Plenty of history, plenty of laughs, and you might even learn something. Seriously, it's a treat, and Pittsburgh Public Theater hasn't done 1776 for 5 or 6 years now (when it was at Heinz Hall,) so go see it!
