A son of an Army veteran, a Marine from 1969 to 1971 and the chairman of the Law and Order Committee in the PA American Legion, Larry Maggi has spent his entire life fighting to make sure veterans get the care, respect and benefits they deserve.

Larry Maggi joined the Marine Corps in 1969 to serve his country when he could no longer afford to go to college. After his time in the service, he went to California University of Pennsylvania on the GI bill. His education gave him the skills necessary to have a good paying job that could provide for a family. Larry understands the needs of our veterans and how important education, health care and job opportunities are to a solider when he or she returns home.

“As a Marine and chairman of the Law and Order Committee in the PA American Legion, I understand the needs of our veterans. They have fought for us. Now it is time for Congress to fight for them. We need to make sure those who have served overseas for a decade have the education, health care and job opportunities they deserve. And as veterans from the World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars continue to age, Congress cannot forget the promises it made to those that have given everything for their country,” said Maggi.

Larry comes from a military family. His father was in the Army and is a former commander at the Claysville American Legion. Both his niece and a nephew attended West Point and his step-brother has spent his career in the Army. Military service is deeply personal to Larry and he appreciates the sacrifice that soldiers and their families make. 

“Larry Maggi’s dedication and hard work on behalf of veterans in southwest Pennsylvania is truly inspiring. Whether he is comforting the family of someone who passed away, working at the county so every veteran can get the care they need, or listening to the crowd at the Claysville Legion on a Sunday afternoon, Larry never stops advocating for veterans,” said Elton Morris, commander at the Claysville American Legion.  

As a chair of the Law and Order Committee in the PA American Legion and a part of the Marine honor guard in Washington County, Larry continues to give back to the veterans of southwest Pennsylvania.
