McKeesport Man Arrested in Charlotte Drive Gun Encounter

The incident occurred on June 3 in south Baldwin.

Authorities from the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office arrested Robert Becoate, 21, of Soles Street in McKeesport, on Saturday on a warrant issued by the Baldwin Borough Police Department.

Becoate is the one whom police believe pulled a gun on a man in a home on Charlotte Drive in south Baldwin on June 3, Baldwin police Chief Michael Scott said.

Baldwin police came to the 400 block of Charlotte at around 11 p.m. on June 3 to find the victim, who said that a man known to his son had entered his home and demanded money at gunpoint related to a possible drug deal.

The son had arrived at the Charlotte home accompanied by the gunman, but the gunman did not reveal his weapon until the son and father refused to cooperate with him.

The father went upstairs after hearing a commotion in the son's bedroom, and that is when the gun was drawn and aimed at the father.

When the gun was drawn, the son jumped out of an open window at the Charlotte home and ran to a nearby Elaine Drive residence to take safety.

There were no shots fired and no major injuries.

Becoate lists Bataan Drive in Clairton as a second address.

The son is a coward to leave his father standing there and run for safety. I am just glad his father wasn't shot.

Everyone has a different reaction to the fight or flight response unless properly trained. His protective instinct score must be low! Correct me if I'm wrong but considering the details of the story dad would have been covered under Castle Doctrine. Castle Doctrine - What ever force was needed to protect his life in that particular situation.

Yes we are allowed to shoot someone if they are inside our home in Pennsylvania.
