Think Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness Events Around Pittsburgh
Here are a few ways that western Pennsylvanians can participate in the cause.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and whether you love to shop, attend events, walk or run, there are tons of different ways to support the cause. Here are a few fundraising opportunities around the Pittsburgh area:
- If you're headed to Grove City Premium Outlets this October, stop by the Information Center near the food court and donate $10. The outlets have teamed up with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, and when you donate, you'll receive 25 percent off of one item from select stores. Donations will be accepted on-site only via cash or credit, and all proceeds benefit Komen Pittsburgh. More information is available here.
- Wacoal will sponsor a Fit for the Cure program at Macy's department stores to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For every woman professionally fitted for Wacoal gear at these events, Wacoal will donate $2 to Komen for the Cure. The Macy's at South Hills Village will participate on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information is available here.
- If you buy any CoGo's refillable coffee mug this month, the convenience store will donate $0.50 to Komen Pittsburgh. There are quite a few CoGo's near the Baldwin-Whitehall area. Click here to find them. More information is available here.
These are just a few of the many breast cancer awareness events happening around Pittsburgh this month.

Please donate locally. There is a lot of excellent research and studies going on in Pittsburgh. A donation to the Susan B. Komen Foundation is just as likely to go to a political organization as it is to finding cure.......and that's AFTER the CEO's $5M salary.

Paula, do you know where to find local organizations that could use some fundraising for breast cancer awareness?
