Snow Expected in Pittsburgh During Tuesday Morning Commute

A small snowstorm moving into the Pittsburgh area overnight could cause problems during Tuesday morning's rush hour commute.

Southwestern Pennsylvania, roughly, is expected to receive between a half-inch and just under a full inch inch of snow by the time that most people are waking up to head to work that day.

Dennis Sims, a meteorologist at Air Science Consultants in Bridgeville Borough, said that light snow is expected to move into the area at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday and won't end until just after the morning rush hour.

"It should be just enough to make roads and bridge decks slippery," Sims said of the snowfall. "Just enough to be a pain in the butt."

Sims said that he anticipates less snow in the area's northern sections but more in its southern and eastern parts. The Uniontown area could get up to 2 inches of snow.

The temperature is expected to hover around 29 degrees during the early morning snowfall.

Air Science Consultants is a private meteorological company that offers forecasts for business clients, including the National Hockey League during this past year's Winter Classic in Pittsburgh.
