‘Sincerely Yogurt’ Shop Coming to Caste Village

Mike and Kim Mathias, who also own Sincerely Yogurt in South Park, hope to open the store in mid-May.

Sincerely Yogurt in South Park was a frequent stop for Mike and Kim Mathias, as they passed it every time they drove their four children to and from soccer practice.

It wasn’t a tough decision to stop there for a treat, Kim said, because she and her husband loved the product as much as their children did.

Now, the couple owns the South Park store—and soon, they’ll open a Sincerely Yogurt in Caste Village, too.

“We were just itching to do something like this,” Kim said. “We’re both from Brentwood, so we’ve always come to these shops. We go to these restaurants and these stores all the time, so it’s neat to be part of this.”

The couple, who now lives in Bethel Park, plans to open the store in mid-May, no later than Memorial Day. The store is located across from First Commonwealth Bank in Caste Village. It will feature an outdoor seating area that will be protected from traffic in the plaza.

Mike and Kim had never been business owners before taking over the Sincerely Yogurt in South Park last August, but they’d been looking for just such an opportunity.

“We were looking around for a few years for something like this, and when the South Park one happened to come up for sale we decided to go for it,” Mike said.

Frozen yogurt shops are gaining popularity right now, and Kim and Mike think they know why.

“There’s such a draw for the kids because it’s still like ice cream, but for adults it’s a healthier alternative,” Kim said. “You can get smoothies here, and fruit toppings.”

Her husband agreed.

“From the kids’ perspective, it’s about choosing what they want,” Mike said. “They can pick the toppings, pull the lever, and because of the alternatives they can choose healthier options.”

Right now, there’s still a lot of construction at the site, and Kim said at first it was hard to imagine a bright, friendly frozen yogurt shop in the space.

“This used to be a district magistrate’s office, so it’s a little hard to imagine a kitchen where the judge’s office used to be,” she said.

The couple plans to release information about the grand opening within the next few weeks.

The Caste Village store also is currently hiring, and those interested in applying can find applications and information on the Sincerely Yogurt website. Applications can be submitted to Mike Mathias at mikem@sincerelyyogurt.com.

Sincerely Yogurt will be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
