Silk Road, Italian Oven in Midst of Expansion Projects
Sushi bar and hibachis coming to Silk Road; Italian Oven adding a full liquor bar and more.
Two popular Caste Village eateries—Silk Road and the Italian Oven Restaurant—are both nearing the end of expansion projects.
Tom Caste, president of The Royal Mile Company, which owns Caste Village in Whitehall Borough, said that he expects both projects to completed by early August.
Silk Road is expanding by roughly 1,600 square feet and is adding a sushi bar and three hibachis that will accommodate up to eight patrons each watching chefs prepare food live in front of them.
The Italian Oven is adding 1,314 square feet to allow for a full liquor bar, additional seating, a fireplace and an expansion of its private party room.
The party room is actually already complete, but the remaining upgrades should be completed by early August.
The Italian Oven is also getting a new name—GiannaVia's. Italian Oven management is not changing in any way, but owner Tony Machi said that he felt that a new name should accompany a new identity for the expanded restaurant.

I was unaware that Caste Village could be expanded. What will happen to the traffic patterns on Baptist Road if Caste Village needs to increase in size?
I would guess the street will need to be blocked off by the new store fronts. I would suggest that a bridge be put over the new Caste Village and then cars and buses alike can continue to use the throughway which is Baptist Road.
This seems like it should have been discussed as a community since we would lose a major roadway in the Boro, no?

Per my discussion with a co-worker, I now realize that Caste Village will not be expanded but there is available space that these stores will move into.
Therefore, I would like to amend my 1st comment to:
"Great news! This will be good for the area. The name change of the Italian Oven will help reduce employee defection."

I've been to Italian Oven a few times to eat and was not impressed with the food. Best Italian food around in my opinion is Pasta II
