Map information from the Pennsylvania State police Megan's Law website.
Patch wants to help Baldwin-Whitehall parents keep their kids safe this Halloween season.
And as your little ones and not-so-little ones prepare to go door to door for trick-or-treating this coming Wednesday, Patch offers a map of our community's registered sex offenders whose residential addresses are listed on the Pennsylvania State police Megan's Law website.
The Megan's Law site provides information only for the individuals currently registered with the Pennsylvania State police as sexual offenders. State police say that the website does not list information for every individual ever arrested or convicted of a sex-related offense.
According to the website, state police verify and update it regularly to ensure that it is complete and correct. They caution, however, that they cannot guarantee that the information is as accurate as possible or that it includes the current residence, status or other information regarding every offender.
Sex Offenders in Your Neighborhood
A search of the website shows that SEVEN registered sex offenders reside in Baldwin-Whitehall, including one each in Whitehall Borough and Baldwin Township and five in Baldwin Borough.
How the Map Works
The map is interactive, meaning that you can zoom in, zoom out or move around to see all of the plotted points. Click here for the map or look above.
Clicking on the markers will give you the addresses listed on the Megan's Law website. More information regarding specific charges for the offenders is found on that site.

Thanks for the information. How close to a school and park can a Sex Offender reside?

Our pleasure. That question is answered here (http://www.pameganslaw.state.pa.us/FAQ.aspx):
Q: Are sexual offenders and sexually violent predators allowed to live near a school, park, daycare center, etc?
A: Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law does not restrict where a sexual offender or sexually violent predator may reside. However, an offender may be restricted from residing near a school, park, daycare center, etc. under one of the following circumstances:
The sexual offender or sexually violent predator is under the supervision of a federal, state, or county department of probation or parole and there are specific restrictions designating where the sexual offender or sexually violent predators may reside.
The sexual offender or sexually violent predator is under specific court ordered restrictions designating where the sexual offender or sexually violent predators may reside or who the offender may have contact with.
Note: Effective February 18, 2012, 42 Pa.C.S. 9795.1(d) states that no more than five sexually violent predators may live in a group-based home at any one time. Group-based homes violating this prohibition are subject to a civil penalty in the form of a fine that can range from $2,500 to $5,000.

I thought sex offenders had to live a certain distance away from a school? Whoever lives at 5410 McAnulty is right down the road from McAnulty and Whitehall Elementary. That's quite disturbing!

I live in Baldwin Township. Several years ago there was a young man on Dewalt who was arrested and I believe convicted for a sexual offense. I know he lived on Dewalt because they published his name in the paper and on the news. I can't recall his name but I know he resided on Dewalt .... up the hill on Dewalt in the block between Old Farm and Crestline ... the last house on the right side (high side) before you get to Crestline intersection. Is he no longer on the list? Or has he moved? There is the charter school just short of two blocks away. There are a lot of little kids in the township. Can you look into this please?

Mary Sue, I'm not certain who you're talking about, but there is a Dewalt Drive address on that map.

Hey Robert? You are doing a public service, by publishing a reminder to avoid houses and addresses that appear on the Pennsylvania sex offender registry over the halloween period, right?
You are doing this because those addresses have potentially dangerous people living in them, right?
Starting December, Pennsylvania is adding over 50,000 names to the public sex offender registry. Most of those on the registry will be re-classified as the highest risk level and forced to register for life.
Hey, just wanted to point out that next year you will have lots more boogey men to protect yourself from.
Do you think the following year you will get even a bigger list?
Well, you will have 50,000 more people you can soon start systematically banishing from every social avenue of the community.
They will have no hearing, no challenges, no appeals and will be notified by mail that if they do not abide by this police State's dictates, they face long prison terms.
Robert? You would think there would be a legal requirement to be dangerous to be on a sex offender registry. But I guess it is so much simpler to just assume danger.
That way you get to be a hero without even a whit of bother that 10's of thousands of people are losing their civil rights over night by legislative fiat.
Well, thanks for the address info. All the kids and their halloween pranks need to know where to go to harass offenders, family members and their children. Good Job!

Rudy101 - I highly doubt that Bob put this list up so that children can go harass offenders. It is the law also that when an offender is caught and found guilty of sexual abuse that they have to register with the State Police under Megan's Law. It is all public knowledge. The local police are also suppose to notify the families if a neighborhood if an offender moves to your neighborhood.

You know what is so scary? It is the hypocracy. When over 95% of all sexual crimes are by people not on the registry and the vast majority of crimes are not reported, there are literally hundreds of unconvicted sex offenders in your community, verses the 7 you have listed.
Of course it ignores the almost endless list of scum bags that reside in the community, from serial adulterers, pathological thieves, 1000's of alcholoics and assaulters and child abusers and drug users.
There will be no molestations of children by sex offenders on trick or treaters this halloween. There will be 1000's of children beaten, abused and raped by those in their own home this halloween. There will be dozens of children killed by cars.
But you have the solution to a safe society and the liars, cheats, thieves, drug abusers and child abusers are telling you if you know about THEM, you will be safer.
Until you all decide to have a court hearing, under fair standards and restrictions rationally based upon each individual, your registry will be laughed, lampooned and ignored.
Can you imagine some scum lying alcoholic child beater screaming baby raper to a person on the registry for having sex with their now wife?
Yes, keep pointing fingers at people you know nothing about...

Rudy101 these people on this list were convicted of sexual abuse and have to be registered under Megan;s Law. Bob isn't pointing fingers at anyone as this list is PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE. Sounds like this list hit to close to home.
Also if you see abuse going on like your listing in your post, I hope you are reporting it to the police, as women and children are victims and sometimes to afraid to go to the police for fear of their lives and of their families.
You also can have a list sent to you from Family Watchdog and State Police when an offender moves to your neighborhood.

Hey cc: You have a multitude of organizations that will use that registry information to give to the public to ensure WHAT?
That the person listed is isolated from the community.
Remember, cc, there is no requirement to be dangerous to be listed and the State has full authority to name anyone they want, anytime they want, for however long they want.
That is why in Pennsylvania, in December 10's of thousands are being ADDED to the sex offender public registry. How does the State do that? How can the State, on ONE day add upwards of 50,000 people to the sex offender registry?
What are the ramifications of being listed for those 50,000 people? Just benighn public knowledge of already public record?
Hardly and not even close. In fact, it is so bad to be listed, and the list lacks so much of any semblence of due process, that as a matter of law, that while Family Watchdog and the State Police are giving out information to be re-released in unlimited ways for the express purpose of ISOLATION from the community, that list doesn't have to be followed regardless of what any law says.
What you guys don't consider is what makes your registry null and void.
That being said, have a hearing in front of a judge with fair standards. It's not a radical idea. Going back decades and adding someone to a list so as he becomes the object of ridicule IS a radical idea.

1) Get the self-righteous fired up.
2) Get people in power such as politicians and the media to use misinformation or lies to require the undesirables to register.
3) Make public who they are, where they live and work then post their pictures. That opens them and their families up to threats, vigilantism and vandalism, unemployment and homelessness.
4) Increase the requirements and add so many restrictions that no one can be expected to keep track of them. This will definitely keep them in the system by making it easy to re-arrest them on petty violations.
5) Restrict where they can live, work, and deny them access to public, places, schools, librarys, parks, old folks homes, hospitals and associations with other people; also denying them access to public communications such as email and Facebook so they can't speak out in their own defense, making it easier to justify acts against them.
6) Having stripped away their rights as American citizens, the next step is to make them wear a color or some type of badge or label, mark their license or ID then brand or tattoo them.
7) Confine them to institutions run by the government.
8) The final step is to put them to sleep (gas them).
All in the name of protecting society.
Why does all this sound strangely familiar?

Rudy,
You do realize every arrest is public record and information, whether it is a sex crime or not, but if you don't want on the list maybe you shouldn't or people you know shouldn't have committed the crime. It's that simple.
Rudy101
11:26 pm on Friday, October 26, 2012
Public record means unlimited active public notification? Sorry, you can't use public records to strip people of their civil rights.
And Jim? Just so you know, the list isn't being followed. I don't follow it. Registry laws are illegal and ex-post facto AND they ONLY strip safety and/or security from offenders.
You can't make anyone follow your laws, and especially you can't make me.
Isn't that too bad?

Ruby101 here is some info for you "What Is Megan's Law?
Megan's Law is designed to provide information and notification to communities when potentially dangerous sex offenders moves into the neighborhood. The nature of the notification varies significantly from state to state, and even sometimes from community to community within a state. However, as a result of the system, every state now attempts to keep track of the residence of sex offenders, and to provide information to the public."
This is why we have Megan's Law "Who Was Megan?
Megan's Laws are named after seven-year-old Megan Kanka, who was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and murdered by a man who had two prior convictions for sexual offenses. The murderer had moved in across the street from Megan's family, which was unaware of his past history."
Rudy101

You do realize that laws named after dead children generally are very little thought out, usually passed without debate, and unintended consequences go to extreme levels.
Very few people on the Megan's law website fit the profile of the person who killed Megan. In fact, the list is dilluted with people who pose no danger to the community.
"Potential" danger is not enough, when regulating outside of a sentence of a court of law, especially when the term, "potential" danger is coined, defined and applied solely by a legislature.
Your registry is dangerous to be on. That has been proven. There is no evience the registry protects the community. The registry takes liberty from an individual outside of a court of law, and many cases decades after a sentence has been served.
It is illegal and clearly so. Sorry about your registry.

So, Rudy and BarT, why are your names on the sex offender list, or why is a family member on the list... Was it be caust they touch little non-legal children, was it because they are looking at child pornography, was it becaue they were dumb and were charged with statitory rape? Every arrest record is viewable by the public. You are defending people that dont need defended. If you dont like people knowing about your situation then you should have thought twice about ding what you or a family member did. Tis all, good day
Rudy101

See above, an arrest record doesn't translate into the State packaging up the information and sending it to even those who are unstable and violent in addition to any public, private organizations and individuals.
You really think you can use a public record to systematically banish? What is so special about having a sex offender public criminal record and having any other public criminal record?
You know what is so special and it is how the legislature wants to use that information.
And people know who I am. I don't live in fear. I am a contributing member of my community. Do you really believe a conviction, as some distant time, means something? It doesn't and you all are sitting with big bags of nothing.
That is what is so funny; you think you have something because you have a conviction and yet, you have NOTHING. ha ha ha...

Rudy this hit a nerve because your names on the list. I for one am glad this is law as I have children and grandchildren in the community. Any person in Pennsylvania has a right to be notified when a pedophile moves into the neighborhood. Any person in Pennsylvania can go to the state police website and have an email sent to them when a pedophile moves into the neighborhood. They can also be notified from Family Watchdog about this information when they get a neighbor who moves in that is on the list.
No one ruined your life of being a pedophile except yourself and thank goodness for the people that turned you in. If you don't like being on the list then you should of never committed the crime to begin with. I am glad this list is out there as I can warn my children and grandchildren who to stay away from.
Rudy101
10:54 pm on Saturday, October 27, 2012
See cc? You have no idea what you are talking about. Who told you that the people on the sex offender registry are pedophiles? The facts are, the majority are not.
That's your whole problem, you are stating a "right" to know that someone is something, that it clearly is not in most cases.
I am not on your stupid list, cc. I laugh at it. You know why? Because if people like you are getting lists about others, people like you do not have even the most basic understanding of how to interpret the information given to you.
And what truly makes your registry laughable? You believe lives are ruined simply for being listed on one. The registry can't be a punishment. Do you understand? You are calling people pedophiles who are not (and could care less about the truth) but you understand the ramifications of being listed.
THAT is why your list isn't being followed and you can't look me up to know where I live; it is so as I am not harassed or threatened.
You really believe my safety and/or security means nothing. You are so wrong.

I agree with John, Thank you for publishing this information. There are two websites that give all offenders in Pennsylvania and it is good to know if you have a pedophile in the neighborhood as you can warn your children who to stay away from as many offenders do go out and recommit the same crimes. Just because someone spent time in JAIL for these crimes does not mean they got treatment so that they don't go out and re-offend.
