Seniors Enjoy Sun and Song at South Park Festival

People from across Allegheny County turned out for the third annual Senior Celebration in the Park.

Senior citizens from across Allegheny County enjoyed one of the nicest days of the year at the South Park Fairgrounds on Wednesday as they took part in the third annual .

This year's event, named "Back to the Swingin' 60s," included dancing, information booths, caricature painting, games and prizes and featured an "American Idol"-styled singing contest.

The winner, Russell Bowe, of Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood, won a recording contract at Ya Momz House, LLC, recording studio for his rendition of "My Girl" by The Temptations.

Many of the day's attendees came from the county's Department of Human Services' Area Agency on Aging senior centers.

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, the Dignity & Respect CampaignFifth Third Bank, various county departments and other organizations were involved.
