Brentwood Borough's 10th Annual Light-Up Night will cause the closure of Brownsville Road between Route 51 and Towne Square Way from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13.

The Route 51-Brownsville intersection is on the border of Whitehall and Brentwood boroughs.

Brentwood officials and the Brentwood Business Owners Association organize Light-Up Night, which is expected to draw around 1,000 people to Brentwood Towne Square on Tuesday.

The event will start at 5 p.m. with holiday music, and light-up ceremonies begin at around 5:45, followed by a parade featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus in a horse-drawn sleigh. Santa's elves and the Brentwood High School marching band and cheerleaders, among other groups, will also appear in the parade.

Groups that participated in the the 2011 Light-Up Night parade included Brentwood Emergency Medical Service, the Brentwood Borough Police Department, the Brentwood Volunteer Fire Company, the Brentwood VFW (Post 1810) color guard and others.

After the parade, children will have the opportunity to have their photos taken with the Clauses and their elves, and attendees can view a large, lit and decorated Christmas tree.

The event wraps up at around 8 p.m.

During the event, various area businesses pass out giveaways like glowsticks, popcorn balls and candy to children. For adults, there is a 50-50 raffle and a Chinese auction. Local businesses will also offer some free food and drink items, while some other food and drink will be for sale.

The Brentwood High choir will also perform.
