Results from Magisterial District Court 05-2-18

Judge Bova's jurisdiction includes Baldwin Borough.

 

The following results are from recent hearings held in the Wallace Building office of Magistrate John N. Bova of District Court 05-2-18:

 

  • Baldwin Borough police charged Patricia Rose, 53, of 458 Charlotte Dr. in Baldwin, with local ordinance violations of prohibited occupancy, structure unfit for human occupancy and unsafe structures after sheltering what is believed to be around 50 cats in dirty and unsafe conditions inside of her home in August and September. Rose faced those charges before Bova on Dec. 15, was found guilty and was fined approximately $5,000.

 

 

  • Baldwin police charged Thomas Jeffrey Kerber, 23, of 1800 Patrick Pl., Apt. 112, in South Park Township, with DUI on Nov. 28. Kerber's Jan. 3 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Feb. 21. He was granted an accelerated rehabilitative disposition (ARD) hearing to begin on March 23.

 

 

  • Baldwin police charged Glenn L. Carter, 43, of 333 Linnview Ave. in Pittsburgh's Carrick neighborhood, with DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia on Dec. 6. The possession of drug paraphernalia charge was withdrawn on Jan. 3, but Carter faced the DUI charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Feb. 21. His case will now be part of a docket conference scheduled for April 9. That conference should result in the next legal step for Carter's DUI charge. UPDATE: Continued to Oct. 17.

 

 

 

  • Baldwin police charged Matthew Joseph Madden, 19, of 1223 McClure Ave., Apt. 1, in East McKeesport Borough, with underage drinking and DUI on Jan. 17. Madden's March 6 hearing before Bova was waived, and he will face those charges at the Allegheny County Courthouse on April 20.

 

  • Baldwin police charged Patrick McCormick, 22, of 907 Elmwood St. in Port Vue Borough, with DUI on Jan. 21. McCormick's March 6 hearing before Bova was waived, and he will face that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on April 20.

 

 

 

 

  • Baldwin police charged Samantha Eli Kowel-Vold, 18, of 209 E. Willock Road in Brentwood, with underage DUI and failure to obey a stop sign on Aug. 11. Kowel-Vold's Oct. 11 hearing before Bova was waived, and she faced those charges at the Allegheny County Courthouse on Jan. 13. Kowel-Vold was granted an ARD hearing to begin on March 9. The charge of failure to obey a stop sign was withdrawn as a result of the ARD hearing, but Kowel-Vold was sentenced to 12 months of probation for the DUI charge.

 

 

  • Baldwin police charged Corey Hawkins, 26, of 3728 Churchview Ave. in Baldwin, with DUI and careless driving on Jan. 7. Hawkins' March 13 hearing before Bova was waived, and he will face those charges at the Allegheny County Courthouse on May 1.

 

 

  • Baldwin police charged John Scott Lion, 42, of 1679 Village Green Dr. in the Heritage Hills complex of Jefferson Hills Borough, with DUI on Dec. 2. Lion's Jan. 31 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced that charge at the Allegheny County Courthouse on March 19. His case will now be part of a docket conference scheduled for May 2. That conference should result in the next legal step for Lion's charge.

 

  • Baldwin police charged Raymond Martin Matelan, 52, of 1069 Old Hills Rd. in Elizabeth Township, with DUI and careless driving on Oct. 6. Matelan's Jan. 31 hearing before Bova was waived, and he faced those charges at the Allegheny County Courthouse on March 19. His case will now be part of a docket conference scheduled for May 2. That conference should result in the next legal step for Matelan's charges. UPDATE: Rescheduled for Oct. 1.

 

  • Baldwin police charged Hailey Lynne Wootton, 18, of 5470 Youngridge, Apt. 6, in the Leland Point Apartments complex, with underage drinking on Jan. 17. Wootton pleaded guilty in front of Bova on Feb. 27 and was fined approximately $450.
