Giant Eagle has good sushi but I do not think that I want to nominate them as I feel that they are a monopoly in the food and beverage industry.

Oh well, their sushi is very good. I would like to nominate them.

I should have specified that I meant the Brentwood Giant Eagle. Therefore, they are ineligible. I have just disqualified my own nomination! Haha. Lol.

Sorry all. Hope everyone is having a nice summer. Today is the first day!

In 1918, three families, Goldstein/Shapira, Porter and Chait, built a series of small grocery stores they called Eagle Grocery. They were successful, and the business grew steadily to 125 stores. In 1928, these three families sold Eagle Grocery to the Kroger Company. As part of their arrangement with Kroger, the families agreed to leave the grocery business for a period of three years.
In the meantime, two families, Moravitz and Weizenbaum, built their own successful chain of grocery stores named OK Grocery. In 1931, the five families combined forces to form Giant Eagle. Giant Eagle operated stores throughout Pittsburgh-area neighborhoods, and the chain grew steadily throughout the 30s and 40s, despite the desperate times of the Great Depression and World War II. From the 1950s onward, Giant Eagle was at the leading edge of modern supermarket innovation.

Panda Place on rt 51! Silk Road is too expensive for what little you get. They used to be very good but have cut back their portions and quality of the product.

Absolutely the best Chinese restaurant in this part of the South Hills is China Village which is run by a Whitehall family (and a very nice one at that). They are located in the little strip shopping center near the Grove on Rt. 88. This is a very CLEAN restaurant and they have fantastic food with very generous portion sizes. Their lunch menu is very affordable. Please visit them as they are Whitehalll residents and work so hard. When you go, please say hello to Kitty. She is the co-owner along with her husband who does all of the cooking.
