Reaction from New Baldwin Township Commissioner Susan Snyder

Snyder led all of Baldwin Township in votes on Nov. 8.

Baldwin Township voters re-elected Bob Downey and Nick Pellegrino to the township's Board of Commissioners on Tuesday and added the board's newest member, Susan V. Snyder, who actually led all three candidates in votes.

Snyder spoke to the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch on Tuesday night after learning that she had won a board seat.

"I'm excited and thrilled," she said.

"This, honestly, has been a lifelong dream. I've always enjoyed politics, and I'm just really anxious and excited to get in there and try to do a good job for my township."

Snyder, a Democrat, was surprised to earn the most votes in the municipality.

"I know. It's unbelievable," she said. "I really don't know what to say. I know I know a lot of people in the township, and I worked hard to get out on the street and meet a lot of (other) people. I guess that meant a lot.

"I'm really anxious to get in there and help take care of my community because it's a great township to live in."

Snyder will replace Darrell Bichler on the Board of Commissioners.
