Presidents Always Disrespected, Baldwin Township Woman Says
'The office of the president deserves the utmost respect.' - Sharon Wikert
Sharon J. Wikert, a Baldwin Township resident, wrote a March 4 letter to the editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in which she calls for respect for—and equal criticism of—all U.S. presidents.
Wikert says that she is a registered Independent and that, while some may call George W. Bush and Richard Nixon—both Republicans—bad presidents, Wikert calls Jimmy Carter—a Democrat—the worst U.S. president of her lifetime. (This paragraph has been corrected. The B-W Patch regrets the error. "I do NOT consider either of them (Bush or Nixon) to be bad presidents at all," Wikert says.)
In the spirit of equal treatment, Wikert writes, "I will give (President Barack) Obama credit for the demise of Osama bin Laden but also give the same kudos to our former President George W. Bush, as valuable information regarding bin Laden's whereabouts and activities was obtained through the interrogation techniques used by the (U.S.) Defense Department and armed forces during President Bush's terms in office."

Sorry but the joker in office now is the worse president and if he gets back into office this county will be communist under a muslim leader by the time he gets out of office. They let this joker spend trillions of our money and the people need to wake up and vote him out of office.

George Bush made it very clear that he has "no idea where Bin Laden is, and quite frankly, not worried about him". The comical Republican candidates should make you crawl under a table and pray that President Barack Obama gets re-elected.

I just pray that we don't get him back in office another 4 years so that he can waste more money on big business. It is a joke for anyone to believe that he is going to create jobs.
Christina i'll leave you to watch FOX news since your an expert on it. Watching obamabinliar in office is is a 1 man circus. Don't want to see that either.

I am a friend of the letter writer. I read her letter to the Editor of the Post Gazette. She did not state that she felt that Presidents Nixon and Bush were the worst presidents. Absolutely incorrect. I felt I needed to comment on this because you have not stated the facts correctly in her letter. She made the comment that the woman who wrote the letter stated that Presidents Bush and Nixon were the worst presidents .... my friend Sharon stated that she believed Jimmy Carter to be the WORST president in her lifetime. Hopefully your readers will read Sharon's letter and see that she was misquoted by the BW Patch and the BW Patch will make the correction. Thank you.

Roberta, thank you for writing. Our article does reflect that.

No, your article does NOT reflect that. Read her letter again. She states in it that the original letter writer (to which Sharon responded with her letter) stated that Presidents Nixon and Bush were the bad presidents and that she "respected" that opinion .... She then stated that Jimmy Carter was the worst president. So, NO, your article does NOT reflect that.

No need to shout. :)
So, the difference is between "respecting" and "agreeing." I apologize if I connected the wrong dots. Could you have your friend email me please (robert.healyiii@patch.com)?
