Heroin, Marijuana

Baldwin Borough police officers on patrol at around 4:50 p.m. on Saturday came across two men in The Residences of South Hills apartments complex that, according to a police report, had a strong odor of marijuana coming from them.

The officers received a consent to search the men and found approximately 50 bags of suspected heroin on Bryan E. Woods, 24, of Ajay Drive in South Park Township, and a bag of suspected marijuana on Jacob Daniel Palaski, 22, of Sylvania Drive in South Park, according to the report. Also found on Woods were two hypodermic needles and a bent spoon with a white residue.

According to the report, Woods and Palaski said that they jointly purchased the suspected heroin for $300.

The suspected drugs were sent to the Allegheny County Crime Lab for analysis.

Both men are facing drug possession charges.

DUI

A Baldwin Borough police officer stopped a vehicle at around 5 a.m. on Sunday near the Becks Run Road-East Carson Street intersection for erratic driving, according to a police report.

The officer reported smelling alcohol upon approaching the vehicle's driver—David Tyrone Alston, 41, of Vancroft Street in Pittsburgh's Upper Hill neighborhood. The officer also reported that Alston admitted to recently drinking beer.

Alston then went through a breath-analyzer test, which he failed, before being arrested and taken to the Baldwin police station.

He is being charged with suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
