Pennsylvania Coal Alliance Tabs Pippy as Leader

The former state senator resigned on July 1.

Republican John Pippy, a former Pennsylvania state senator whose 37th District included all of Whitehall Borough, is the new chief executive officer of the Pennsylvania Coal Alliance, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The PA Coal Alliance represents the political interests of multiple coal companies. It was formed after a merger of The Pennsylvania Coal Association and Families Organized to Represent the Coal Economy (FORCE).

Pippy resigned from his Senate seat on July 1 after voting on this year's state budget. However, his district and its capital staff members are expected to remain intact to assist constituents.

Questions remain regarding which Democrat will face Republican D. Raja in November's general election to fill Pippy's seat. Greg Parks was expected to run against Raja, but Parks has dropped out of the race.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania's Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley must decide if there should be a special election before November for an interim state senator or if Pippy's seat should remain empty until after the general election.

Well, well........isn't this a shocking development? Who didn't see this coming? Another public servant going to make the big bucks using his connections in government. I wish him the best...good-bye ans good riddance. My only wish is that Tom Corporate is right behind him, because, face it.......that's who he's working for now.

I'm glad Tom is in office as I'm still waiting for my taxes to be lowered or elimated when we got Casino's in Pennsylvania. A big promise that was once again wasn't true. With the refinery that is going to be built in Western Pennsylvania, there is going to be more than 5,000 people put back to work. We need more Jobs in Pennsylvania and so glad Colbert Gets It, unlike our President.
