An ordinance regulating trees in township space and EZ Auto Sales’ permit applications were the major topics at Tuesday night’s regular meeting of the Baldwin Township Board of Commissioners.

But those topics weren’t the only things on the agenda.

No Millage Increase for 2012

The board passed a motion, 4-0, to approve Ordinance No. 457, keeping the township’s tax rate at 9.5 mills for 2012.

Commissioner Darrell Bichler was absent.

Township to Hook Up with Uninterested Third Party

In wet weather news, township engineer Glenn Jonnet said that the township was asked by Allegheny County Sanitary Authority to prepare a preliminary feasibility report by the end of June 2012.

One of the main issues, Jonnet said, is addressing cost allocation between Baldwin Township, Dormont Borough, Mt. Lebanon and Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority.

To aid in cost allocation considerations, Jonnet asked the board to bring in 3 Rivers Wet Weather as an uninterested third party facilitator between the aforementioned parties.

Using 3 Rivers, Jonnet said, will not cost the township anything and will allow for a step-by-step process to come to a reasonable decision between all of the parties so that each can move on with a feasibility report and, ultimately, get on with their respective watershed projects.

The board supported Jonnet’s request, 4-0.

The facilitation of 3 Rivers will be particularly helpful, multiple members of the board commented, given the watershed issues raised by a proposed athletics complex on the Baldwin Township-Mt. Lebanon border.

Get Those Taxes Paid Before the New Year!

Township treasurer Marilyn G. Wagner told the board that anyone who hasn’t paid his or her township tax by the end of December will be deemed delinquent and turned over to Jordan Tax Service for collection.

Wagner said that she is still in the process of collecting the third installment payment for Baldwin-Whitehall School District taxes.
