No Charges Against Male Who Ran from Police Early Friday Morning

Whitehall, Baldwin Borough and Castle Shannon police searched for the male with K-9 units in and around Whitehall's Steeplechase community, and eventually located him.

On Friday, Aug. 26, at approximately 1 a.m., a Whitehall Borough police officer on patrol near Wesley Spectrum Highland Services on Caste Drive observed a male walking through the rear of Wesley Spectrum's property. The officer shined a light on the male, who then ran away from the area.

Whitehall police, with assistance from the Baldwin Borough and Castle Shannon police departments, then began searching for the male with K-9 units in the surrounding area, including in and around Whitehall's Steeplechase community, and eventually located him.

When asked what he was doing near Wesley Spectrum, the male said that he was traveling through the area on his way to meet his girlfriend, Whitehall police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said.

When asked why he ran from a police officer, the male said that he was scared that he was going to be in trouble for taking that shortcut and for walking around outside well past nightfall, Dolfi said.

An intruder alarm was never activated at Wesley Spectrum, Dolfi said, and no one suffered any damages. The male will not be charged with a crime.

If a cop ask you to stop, JUST STOP! People have no respect these days.
