New Business at Former Chesapeake Site?

A banner hangs claiming that something will open there this year.

A Baldwin Borough steak and seafood restaurant damaged by a fire in 2007 may reopen as "Murphy's Law," according to a banner seen hanging at the former restaurant's site on Tuesday.

The 1.766-acres property—1965 Streets Run Rd.—is zoned for use as a restaurant, café and/or bar, but Baldwin Manager John Barrett said that no one identified as being from Murphy's Law has received an occupancy permit for that location.

"Time will tell (if the business will open there)," Barrett said. "My understanding is that there is significant repair work needed to address smoke and fire damage that the building sustained previously."

The location was the subject of a Patch "Visions for Vacancies" article in April 2012.

I would like to reiterate my comment from the previous Patch article that you reference "Visions for Vacancies" - April 2012. Another Bar/Restaurant seems destined to burn down. However, that could have been a one-time thing but if you ask me, that plot of land is haunted!

“I agree with you RRH. I would welcome a face lift of Baldwin Boro proper.
I think that a gas station for electric cars would be more beneficial to the environment in this location. However, not that many people have electric cars yet and that may not warrant an electric car gas station. Maybe in a few years’ time it will be the endeavor and we will be proverbial sooth seers if I may be so bold. Haha. Lol.
It would be a good idea as well to morph the idea of an electric car gas station and restaurant since it is already zoned such to have an electric car gas station restaurant. Here you could charge your car and order food from the attendant and then leave to go home or to work.”

Why would electric cars want a gas station? :-)

Chevy Volt uses both electric and gas as other Hybrid cars do

A gas-station would be perfect for that site. The area needs yet another hole-in-the-wall bar & grille like it needs another hole in the head.

"Murphy's Law" says something could go wrong. I hope it isn't another fire.
