The National Weather Service in Moon Township has issued a winter storm warning for Allegheny County, effective from 5 a.m. on Wednesday through 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Four to 8 inches of snow are expected to accumulate throughout Wednesday with heavy snow occurring mid-morning through the afternoon. Sleet and freezing rain are also expected.

Visibility for motorists could be limited to a quarter-of-a-mile during heavy snows, according to the weather service.

Hazardous travel conditions are expected.
