Nancy DiNardo Is New B-W School Board President
The board is expected to appoint a new member next week.
New President
Nancy Sciulli DiNardo is the newest president of the Baldwin-Whitehall School Board, the board's members decided on Wednesday night.
Sciulli DiNardo replaces former President John B. Schmotzer, who resigned from the board after its Nov. 14 meeting. Schmotzer said that he wished to spend more time with his family and in furthering his business and volunteerism.
The school board is expected to appoint a new member on Dec. 12 to fill Schmotzer's seat. The Baldwin-Whitehall School District Office has been accepting résumés for that seat since Schmotzer's resignation, and the board will choose his replacement from that list of résumés.
In February 2011, the board publically interviewed candidates for two vacancies and eventually chose Laurencine Romack and Sam DiNardo Jr. to fill those seats.
But when Sam resigned from the board in December 2011, no interviews were conducted to find his replacement. Instead, Nancy, his wife, was appointed in January 2012.
There are no interviews being conducted for Schmotzer's replacement, either.
Following his appointment, Sam earned public election to the school board just prior to his resignation, and Nancy replaced him with years of board experience, having also been publically elected in Baldwin-Whitehall before resigning in September 2010.
Same Vice Presidents
Also on Wednesday, the board chose to keep Kevin J. Fischer and Diana Kazour as its first and second vice presidents, respectively.
Same Solicitor
The board also chose to keep Ed Lawrence as the school district's solicitor.

Who wants to make a bet that the new "appointee" will have the last name of Schmotzer or DiNardo since it seems to be kept "all in the family" with the school board members.
Let's all pray that it is not Martin Leopold Michael Schmotzer that we get stuck with.

Without a doubt these clowns on the board already know who the person is. At the end of the meeting last night, Mrs. DiNardo said, make sure there is a magestrate here next week (presumably to Mrs. Kraus the board secretary). It is a shame that most voters don't see that Marty Schmotzer pulls the strings of so many on the School Board, Allegheny County Council and for a brief time the 22nd house district. It can't change if you keep voting his people in.

Gee Purple Power, you stated you didn't attend the meeting, yet you stated in your post, "At the end of the meeting last night, Mrs. DiNardo said, make sure there is a magistrate here next week (presumably to Mrs. Kraus the board secretary). I ask again then, WHO ARE YOU GETTING YOUR INSIDE INFORMATION FROM???

No and my guess is we will never know, becsause as long as Marty's or Romack's name is in the running, no one else will even be given a fair shot.

More appropriate question, did they review all applications and interview the applicants before decisions were made for the best candidates? Just wondering...

My next door neighbor applied for this job and they did not get a call nor a interview for the position. Marty will be back running the board though Nancy

Dear School Board Directors: The meetings with the current members have been ones that each worked together to form a cohesive group that speak respectfully and professionally toward one another and the public. Hoping this realization helps you to choose wisely.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Ok. I'm submitting a Right to Know request to get the names. We have every right to know who submitted names, if nothing else than to congratulate them for stepping forward. More importantly, if the board knows we have the names, it may be harder for them to ram their appointment through if it's clear there are much more qualified people available.
Let's see if Ms. DiNardo has the guts to bring this district out of the stone ages and start broadcasting of the meetings to encourage more community participation.

My guess is that the person chosen (or whatever they want to call it) will be either Marty Michael Leopold Schmotzer or, how about this .... are there any Wagners they could put on there? I am with you Brian .... I want to know who submitted a resume, etc. and why they were not good enough for the school board position. Hmmm, maybe Mr. DiNardo wants to come back on. They seem to play a game at this. How long before another steps down and John Schmotzer comes back.
Just remember ..... they can be voted out ........ I do not vote for any of them.

Does anyone know if there was any talk about the football coaching situation? I hope so, it is time they get this clown out of here too!

Where was everyone? You actually have to go and speak your mind!! The school board members are in the dark for the most part. Our AD has them all thinking Coach Wehner is great, he says it's not the coach it's the players..Be proactive and go to the meetings. This school board has to be pressured to do something. Let's ban together as a community for these kids and do something. By the way, nothing was brought up at the meeting. One person can't move mountains. If you are unhappy you need to also write a letter and submit it to each board member ASAP.

I don't see anything here from the guy who said he was going to apply.
Name was Bob, said he was former Navy, and was a Christian.
Bob, did you apply? What was your experience?

loyalbaldwinfan is the only one with a clue. Writing on blogs does not do anything. Nobody goes to board meetings. Nobody votes either. See for yourself. There are twenty people on here that may vote. It takes about 3500 give or take votes to get elected in this school district. Look at the last elections numbers. There are about 30,000 people that live in the school district yet it takes 3500 votes to get elected on average. Do the math. That is about ten percent. Here are the last election results from the patch.
Baldwin-Whitehall School Board (4-year term)
Vote for 5
38 of 38 precincts counted Votes
Kevin J. Fischer *WINNER* 4,728
Tracy Macek *WINNER* 5,140
Richard J. Kirsch 3,300
Marion M. Shannon
3,307
Lora J. Kalwarski 3,195
Larry Pantuso *WINNER* 3,850
Diana Kazour *WINNER*
3,664
Ray Rosing *WINNER*
3,364
So, people need to be informed and need to vote. People also need to not lump people together. There are many good people on the board. I go to every meeting and have for many years. You all ruin your credibility when you say dumb things like "they all need to go, they dont listen and on and sorry ass on." The fact is you need to get off your computers, get out of your house and go to meetings and then finally VOTE. If less than 15% care enough to vote I guess the other 85% are happy with the job our elected officials are doing.

De Tourquemada, when someone retires from the board, the administration appoints someone to the spot, suppose to be people apply, get interviewed and then a decision is made (other school districts) BW is let people apply, no interviews and just give the seat to someone that they are related to or to someone that was on the board and had to leave for a few months, then place them back on the board.
I vote every election, many people don't which is a shame as that is how you get rid of the clowns on the school board.

Interesting Purple Power, you obviously attended, and if names weren't mentioned you are quick and sure of yourself when you mention Marty and Romack as being in the running.Just curious how YOU have so much insider information. I think that whole board should move on.We have been having the same conversation for five years.
