Momsday: The Great Escape

Henna tattoos?! Why not?

Hello, moms! How was your week? Now that graduation is over and all schools are almost out for the summer, you will need some "mom time" more than ever. Let's see if we can't find something in Baldwin-Whitehall this week for you to enjoy.

On, Sunday, June 12, is hosting an Oldies Night, starting at 5 p.m. This is an over-21 event, so leave the kiddos at home and enjoy a night out with your significant other and/or friends. The bar will open at 5 for cocktails, and the deejay will start spinning some oldies at 6.

There is no cover charge for this event! Michael's will have appetizers and sandwiches available for dining from 5 to 10.

The restaurant wants to get the summer started with a great event that brings out the whole community for a good time. This sounds like a great start to a week with the children home for the summer!

Looking for something fun to do with your friends that'll make you look pretty while you're hanging out at the pool and make the kids think that you're still "cool"?

Next Wednesday, June 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., the will show you how to create your own henna tattoos. I'm telling you about this now because you need to register today, Wednesday, June 8, for this class. Click here to sign up.

Henna is a non-permanent dye that can be placed on the top layer of your skin, not a permanent-tattoo product, and it lasts for up to three weeks. Wouldn't it be fun to have a pretty tattoo on your ankle or your shoulder for swimsuit season? And this way, you can see what designs you really like without it being permanent.

So grab your friends and go do something different. I am seriously considering this class myself so I may just see you at the library. Let's see what friends I can grab to go with me! Don't forget to sign up today (Wednesday).

And did you know that the  offers a traveling-libary program at the ? The Baldwin Library will have representatives there every Monday from now until August 1 from 2 to4 p.m.

You can sign up for the summer reading program, apply for a library card, return borrowed books and take out books. This is great for us moms to be able to grab a good book to relax with while the kids are playing in the pool. Kudos to whomever came up with the idea. It's great for moms-on-the-go and a good way to keep the kids reading in the summer.

I hope that you enjoy your week, moms. Make sure to take some time for yourself! With the kids out of school, we'll need a little break now and then. I know a lot of moms that need a break after helping with all of the end-of-year events at school this past week!

And congratulations to 's Class of 2011. We are all very proud of you here at the Baldwin-Whitehall Patch!
