'Emmy' Has Been Found

She had been missing since Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE (Friday, 2:25 p.m.): Emmy has been found.

 ...

The owners of a dog recently rescued from a shelter tell Patch that the dog ran away from her new home in Whitehall Borough on the border of Bethel Park and south Baldwin Borough at around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and that the dog is still missing as of early Friday.

The dog's name is "Emmy," but because she was in a shelter for quite some time, she is shy and does not know her name very well.

Some reports have Emmy as recently being seen in the areas of Provost and Weyman roads in Whitehall and across Route 88 in Castle Shannon Borough toward Wabash Avenue and Killarney Drive (near Baldwin Township).

Other reports put Emmy in the area of Dormont Borough and Pittsburgh's Brookline neighborhood.

Has the dog been found? My neighbors and the owners were chasing her in my neighborhood last night.

I saw her wed morning around 9:30 / 10 am walking on Provost Rd down the hill toward Weyman ... By the time I went outside, she was gone. I'll keep an eye out. Now that I see her pic, it was definitely her.

Unfortunately the more you chase her the more she is going to run. She thinks of it as a game. I am keeping my eye out for her.

My daughter and I tried to catch her but everytime we went towards her she ran. I don't think she thought it was a game. She looked very scared. This was Tuesday at 10 p.m. at the intersection of Provost and Route 51. Please let us know when she is found, my daught was pretty upset that we had to leave her.

I'm hearing that, despite attempts by multiple people, Emmy has not been caught yet.

I hope someone posts here where she was last seen. If I had an updated general area where she was last seen I could drive around that area and look around.

She was just seen at Greentree road and Mcmonagle (spelling?)

btw, for Mary-Dogs are hardwired to chase and may instinctively react thinking you are playing a chase game with them. This goes both ways. If you chase after them, they run, but if you run, they chase after you.

Same here. Last I heard she was in Greentree. I am still watching out since she might head back this way. Never know what is in her mind. I am reading updates from the owner who is posting on a facebook group I joined.

Indeed indeed. I love Nicole's work. She is one of the best trainers out there. I went to one of her seminars a couple years ago and am looking forward to attending another one of hers this September. Check out some of her other blogs on that website. Lots of good info.

When you see her, call her by her name and get down on the ground with food and act interested in something, touch ground, no eye contact, gently call her name, most dogs will automatically become inquisitive and come to you. Another way is to call her and run in the opposite direction, get down on the ground and do above, most dogs will chase. Used to help at a shelter and was tracking a lost dog a couple years ago.

Bob- I looked on google maps and there is an intersection of Annex and McNeilly. Annex is the 2nd street on the right down from Pioneer.

I hope Emmy is found soon. However, looking at her photo I notice a chock chain around her neck, I hate to see those on dogs.

perhaps a dumb question but has anybody contacted various local police departments and animal control? police may keep an eye out for her and it's always a good idea to let animal control know this dog got loose and is being searched for - even if she has a license on her collar it's a good idea to call animal control

Yep, the owners have contacted all local police, animal control, local shelters, craigslist, facebook and have been passing out flyers and putting up signs.

Yes Patty, they called police departments and animal control. They have called radio stations and probably other places too. I get this info from reading what the owner wrote on the facebook page. It has updates of where she was last seen on there too.

JoAnn- I asked the owner. That is an old photo of her wearing the choke collar . It was taken at the foster home. She does not have any collar on at the present time.
