Nearby: Large Route 88 Project Starting June 20

Work will last until late August.

A 3.6-mile stretch of Route 88—from the intersection of South Park and Baptist roads in Bethel Park all the way into Washington County—will see roadwork that will last from June 20 until late August.

The work includes drainage upgrades, milling, paving and base repairs, according to a news release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 11-0.

Traffic on that stretch of Route 88 will be restricted to one 11-foot-wide alternating lane in work areas on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on weekends (as needed) from 6 p.m. on Fridays through 6 a.m. on Mondays.

The work is included in a $2.9-million contract with A. Folino Construction, of Plum Borough, for improvements on several roadways in Allegheny County.

There are buses from off Churchview that go down town and then the trolley runs right next to Rt 88. Then again I know back roads to get around the area so I don't see this as a problem anymore than I see the work going out to Shop N Save off of Baptist Road. I will never give up on my weekly trip to Trax Farm nor will I give up on going out and visiting my friends and family.

Can't they co-ordinate their projects a little better. One at a time PLEASE! Pretty soon we'll need helicopters to get around and just lower us into our prospective destinations!

Traffic is a mess on 88 by Hillcrest Shopping Center an now they throw this in the mixture. At least were not getting hit this year with Rt 51 and Rt 88 construction project. This is going to be a nightmare come 2013 and 2014.

I agree there Roseann all the construction from Brownsville Rd, Broughton Rd, Baptist Rd is a pain. Hopefully when they do Library Rd they will do it in sections like they did on Clifton Rd and won't take the whole Road out at one time.
