If it Were Up to Whitehall, Mitt Romney Would Be President

But Baldwin Borough and Baldwin Township supported Barack Obama.

Democrat Barack Obama won the national vote on Tuesday, and he won in Pennsylvania.

But, if Whitehall Borough alone decided the presidency of the United States, Republican Mitt Romney would be the winner.

According to unofficial results from the Allegheny County Division of Elections, Romney gained 130 more votes in Whitehall than President Obama did.

Fifty-two people in Whitehall voted for Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party, 16 voted for Jill Stein of the Green Party, and 17 wrote another name in.

The results in Baldwin Borough and Baldwin Township, however, were in Obama's favor.

View the table below to see how each municipality within the Baldwin-Whitehall School District voted.

Barack Obama (D) Mitt Romney (R) Gary Johnson (L) Jill Stein (G) Write-in
Baldwin Borough 5,144 (53.9%) 4,248 (44.5%) 86 (<1%) 35 (<1%) 35 (<1%)
Whitehall Borough 3,615 (48.6%) 3,745 (50.3%) 52 (<1%) 16 (<1%) 17 (<1%)
Baldwin Township 633 (54.9%) 502 (43.6%) 8 (<1%) 7 (<1%) 2 (<1%)

I applaud the good people of Whitehall who had the sense to vote for a man with so many great qualities and who, so many of us out here, believe would have made a great president. I live in Baldwin Township and I educated myself and did not vote for Barack Hussein Obama in 2008 and, since he did nothing to give me any good reason to vote for him now, I absolutely did not vote for him now.

The country is not in good shape. Unemployment is high. Gas prices are doubled (and yes I know that presidents have nothing to do with the price of gas ... tell that to President Bush, who everyone blamed for the price when it spiked while he was in office). With regard to Obamacare, weren't we all told that healthcare is going to be more affordable? Really? My husband's employer has already sent notice of a huge increase in our premium and, yes, we do pay a large percentage of the premium right now. In addition, the cost of everything in that plan is doubling as of January 1, 2013 according to our notification. Yet, my husband's pay has not and is not increasing. Sit back and watch what happens to your healthcare, that is, unless you are one of many welfare recipients or on SS disability (as so many have gotten on after not being able to find employment).

Like all of you out there who had "hope and change" back in 08 I am one of many who prayed for the change we so desperately need in this country. This man has plans for us ... and they are not to help this country.

Of course, because look at what democrats did to Green Meadows (turning it section 8) and Prospect Park!! Now everyone's property values are down in the area.

The Residence of South Hills and Whitehall Place hasn't taken Section 8 in over a year but your still blaming these two places as why property values are down. Go look at the School District and their rating for teaching our children. The flopped on making a Video to get people to move to the district. Baldwin Borough might of lost property value but it is still up in Whitehall and Baldwin Township.

Yes, but thank goodness it wasn't up to the people of Whitehall and that we will move forward, look out for those in need , accept those who are not conservative and white as being a part of the fabric of America, will remain a democracy rather than a theocracy as intended by our founders and not be heading into a war with Iran. Please, let's pipe down with all of the negative, hate-filled rhetoric and let's try to move forward together. This hate -filled, vitiolic speech has spread through this country like a cancer thanks to the Tea Party and nothing positive has come from it......only divisiveness. We aren't going back to the 50's. Women, people of color, immigrants, people of different sexual orientations and religions all have a voice in this country and deserve to be heard. Bullying and name calling only brings us down. We were given arms to hold each other up, not push each other down.

You've used 'forward' numerous times- Castro used it in Cuba-spoken like a true Communist. Do you even know what a theocracy is ?! Obviously you don't-THAT is the Muslim/Sharia control of a country. YOUR president's Afghan war is STILL going on-YOUR president let four Americans be slaughtered while he got his beauty rest for the Vegas 'Pimp With A Limp' show. A border agent ,murdered, leaving a wife and children, because he was'nt allowed to defend himself. YOUR president has blood on his hands- PERIOD. This country ,with the re-election of this small, devisive, racist, hateful Statist by the 'useful idiots',as Lenin called people like you, has falled even further into the abyss.
The moron vote-Tea Party's definition of Obama zombies-
-sees nothing wrong with Black Panthers intimidating people-
- supports B.O. spending BILLIONS of OUR tax dollars to bail out his bundlers, create these windmill,solar-gerbil run energy businesses- ALL which are now bankrupt.-along with this country.
-can be bought with free phones, computers, welfare, food stamps...-
-feigns outrage at producing voter i.d.,when they have no problem showing it for the above-mentioned.
Then we have-
WE,THE PEOPLE, who love this country, who believe in independence and liberty
-working, not cradle to grave government control
-Strong National defense
Small Business- the backbone of America-
- We support the CONSTITUTION,the very soul of this nation and the thing YOUR president is destroying.

Paula, The United States is a republic, not a democracy as you have stated twice. We are also never going to move forward if people keep blaming everyone from Bush to the Tea Party. You may not agree with them, but as you put it, everyone has a voice in this country and deserves to be heard. Its time for us to come together and get back to the country that had the respect of the world.

In all articles that I have read on the election it is you democrats that do the name calling and shame on you.

We had 2 write-ins for "Jesus" =) where I was on the Election Board and also several other write-ins, which I believe reflects the unhappiness of many people. @ Michelle Gianni, Green Meadows (Now The Residences of South Hills) say they no longer accept section 8, However their cheap renovations and ruse of "cleaning the place up" (they also rasied the rents which you'd think would change the residents demograpgic) lured me to move here while I looked for a house to buy. It's all lies, it's terrible here. Among other multiple and serious issues, I had young kids (12 ish) lighting fires outside of my building and managent doesn't seem to care. I've been here 2 months and have already given notice that I am breaking my lease. Also, HUD has quietly purchased many properties throughout Baldwin Borough (a lot around the Churview Road Area) in the last 2 years which is lowering property values (because they are considered "rentals"). My last comment is; The Electorial College needs to be eliminated. It was designed for a different era and does not seem to acurately represent the peoples vote in today's day and age.

As a regular 3rd-party voter I would love it if the Electoral College system was abolished. But on the other hand, if you think politicians don't care about most people with the current system, imagine a popular vote system where all they would need to do is Campaign in California, New York City, and Chicago, with the rest of the nation being shut out due to insignificant population centers. The Electoral College currently overvalues the votes of rural America, but abolishing it might just damn those people to never being politically relevant ever again.

I agree. The popular vote was virtually tied. The electoral college is a good 'ol boy system rampant with bribes and corruption. And Pleasant Hills Presby church tried sliding in a homeless shelter up the road from me. We stopped that-FAST. The government is intent on lowering the class of Americans and browbeating the rich- you know, the people who CREATE jobs. It does'nt stop THEM from wearing thousand dollar sneaker to a homeless shelter/five thousand dollar purse to a charity meeting/jaunts on AirForceOne with the peeps [The Missus]; almost two hundred golf outings/Wednesday dinners every week at OUR White House with celebrities, consuming thousands of dollars of Kobe beef and Dom Perignon-and let's not forget the countless visits to Hawaii and Martha's vineyard.[Both].

We on the Right were at first stunned that, with everything this little dictator has done to this great country and its people, there are still airheads out there who put their greed before the future of their children and grandchildren.
Then we were bummed out-worried that our America,as we knew it,is gone.
But now we're angry and ready to fight to save it for OUR children and grandchildren.
And the first thing, people,is to get rid of the Boehners,McConnells,Cantors-all the country-club, establishment Republicans who rammed both McCain and then Romney down our throats. We need people who will stand up to the Democrats-who will call them out when they lie-who's not afraid to say- ENOUGH.

It's going to go one of two ways.
1) Obama will be so concerned with his "legacy" that he might consider compromising. (Say a prayer this is the case), or
2) He will go harder left. In this case our country will be forever diminished. (Again, say a prayer...)

My opinion is that it will be the latter. This man is such a far left, messianic, narcissist idealogue, he truly feels his legacy will be the greatest ever. He has already said he has "...a gift." He has inferred he is the equal of Abraham Lincoln. People ,especially the airheads who voted for him, don't realize what the rest of us have known all along, they don't care.Their greed over rode any shred of common sense they may or may not have and he's just been elected to DESTROY the greatest country in the world .

Lmao....

The comment above about how US is a republic and not a democracy is such a misconstrued and simply...a wrong statement. I had this conversation w some republican folks in my office and I had to reeducate them on this. Also -FYI don't bother googling it and try to explain why this statement is right because the first hundred searches are all biased viewpoints....all one needs to do I look at the history and evolution of both words.

The truth and the fact is that US is both a republic ("democratic republic") as a form of government and a democracy ("representative democracy or liberal democracy") as a system of government. In its original definition, republic only means "non monarch" and democracy only means "government by the people". Many republicans are mistaken in the meanings of both words and is understandably so. Only after two Supreme Court hearings in the late 1800s did the word "republic" as used in the context of the Constitution include "equal rights of citizens" and "right of the people to choose their government" in the definition.

Democracy has been a loosely used word through your history first used to define "pure democracy" or "direct democracy" in the 1600 to late 1700s, and more commonly used to describe "liberal democracy" or "representative democracy in 1800s to present day times".

So the correct answer is that we are both a republic and a democracy.... Don't let crazy fools believe you otherwise!!!

The Left and their arrogance.....This country is a REPUBLIC-always has been, but don't know how much longer it will be under the Socialist-In-Chief. It's also correct to call it a democracy, because it is, in part, but it is first and foremost a Republic.
