Heroin Overdose in Baldwin Township

And another story in these Baldwin Township police briefs from Feb. 10-23.

Heroin Overdose

Baldwin Township police officers and technicians from Medical Rescue Team South Authority came to a home in the 1500 block of Beltram Ave. at around 6:42 p.m. on Feb. 10 for a report that a man was unconscious there.

According to Baldwin Township police Chief Terrence P. O'Brien, the first responders discovered resident Daniel Smaglo, 40, overdosed on heroin inside of the home. Police reported finding bags of heroin and syringes near Smaglo as he was sitting unconscious in a chair. His parents were the ones to call the police.

Smaglo was treated at the scene and taken to St. Clair Hospital for further treatment and evaluation before ultimately being taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Smaglo faces charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Tires Slashed

A resident from the 600 block of Highview Road called Baldwin Township police at around 8:23 a.m. on Feb. 14, Chief O'Brien said, to report that someone had slashed tires on two of that resident's vehicles while they parked in the person's driveway sometime overnight.

The incident is being investigated.
