Heat Advisory and Air Quality Alert Issued for Baldwin-Whitehall
The heat and humidity are becoming dangerous for young children, the elderly and anyone with respiratory problems.
The National Weather Service in Moon Township has issued both a heat advisory and an air quality alert for the western Pennsylvania area, including of course, Baldwin Borough, Whitehall Borough and Baldwin Township.
Temperatures are expected to soar well into the 90s on Friday with heat index values topping 100.
The weather service warns that the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will trigger heat-related problems for the elderly, young children and anyone else susceptible to the heat, including those with respiratory problems.
During times like these, experts suggest that people drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms (if possible) and limit time spent outdoors.
Also, check on relatives and neighbors who live alone.
If you suspect that either yourself or someone else is suffering from heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
