1. GO PINK @ Panera Bread
Where?/When?: Any Panera Bread (There's one on Route 51 in Pleasant Hills Borough.)/Throughout October
Why Go?: Panera Bread is inviting its customers to join in the fight against breast cancer by purchasing a Pink Ribbon Bagel in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Panera will GO PINK, partner with the Young Women's Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation (YWBCAF) and the Magee-Womens Research Institute and Foundation, and donate a portion of the proceeds from every Pink Ribbon Bagel sold. The YWBCAF and Panera GO PINK event will take place in all 28 Pittsburgh-area Panera locations. Proceeds will benefit the Breast Cancer Patient Navigator Program at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC.

2. Fun Fridays at Mt. Lebanon Ice Center
Where?/When?: Mt. Lebanon Ice Center/Friday, Oct. 7, 4:30-6 p.m.
Why Go?: Bring the family for an afternoon of ice skating and enjoy the special effects lighting, DVDs and arcade games.
Pricing: $4.75 admission, $2 skate rental.

3. 2nd Annual Mompreneur Vendor Day
Where?/When?: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of South Hills (and Christian Preschool)/Saturday, Oct. 8, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.  
Why Go?: There will be many different vendors to shop from at the 2nd Annual Mompreneur Vendor Day. Come and shop your favorite direct sales businesses and support working moms! Get ready for the holidays while networking and shopping some great products!
Pricing: Varies. Admission is free.

4. Tournament of Bands Competition
Where?/When?: Baldwin High School/Saturday, Oct. 8, 6 p.m.
Why Go?: The Tournament of Bands (TOB) competition will feature accomplished high school bands from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland, as well a guest performance by the Duquesne University Pep Band. Bands are judged based on their musical and visual accomplishments both on an ensemble and individual level. Awards are also given for top percussion, top color guard and top drum majors.  Baldwin High is an eight-time TOB Chapter Eight Group 4 champion. Contrary to previously published reports, this event is NOT free of charge, and it starts at 6 p.m.
Pricing: $8 per adult; $5 per student.

5. Tortoise and Hair Pittsburgh 5K Run & 2-Mile Walk
Where?/When?: Bartlett Shelter in Schenley Park/Sunday, Oct. 9, 8:30 a.m.
Why Go?: The mission of the Tortoise and Hair Pittsburgh race is to raise awareness of and funds for research of alopecia areata, a common autoimmune disease. All proceeds from the race go directly to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. The race features a 5,000-meter run and a 2-mile walk. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K. Medals will be given to children under the age of 10 who finish the 5K. There will also be a number of great raffles available. Online registration ends on Thursday, Oct. 6.
Pricing: $25 for the 5K run; $15 for the 2-mile walk. Free to watch.

6. Connecting Women's Wisdom
Where?/When?: Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God/Sunday, Oct. 9, 8:30 a.m.
Why Go?: Women of all ages and backgrounds are gathering to focus more clearly, breathe more deeply and live more mindfully at the Sisters of St. Francis of the Providence of God campus in Whitehall Borough. This program will begin with an optional liturgy service in the Sisters' Mary Immaculate Chapel at 8:30 a.m., followed by brunch and a presentation—Prayer through Life's Situations presented by Sister Nancy Langhart, OSF. The program will also include group sharing and quiet reflective time. Call 412-885-7406 to register. Guests are invited to stay after the program to visit with Sisters, continue group sharing and enjoy the natural beauty of the Sisters' 33-acre campus. 7. South Baldwin Volunteer Fire Company Open House 
Where?/When?: South Baldwin Volunteer Fire Company/Sunday, Oct. 9, 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
Why Go?: The South Baldwin Volunteer Fire Company will host an Open House at its station on Sunday. The open house will feature a pancake breakfast from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be child fingerprinting, emergency demonstrations, an EMS helicopter appearance, a presentation on bike safety and more!
Pricing: Free admission; $6 donation per adult for the pancake breakfast; children aged 12 and younger eat for free!

8. Whitehall Public Library 50th Anniversary Brunch
Where?/When?: South Hills Country Club/Sunday, Oct. 9, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Why Go?: A special 50th Anniversary Celebration is set to commemorate the formation of the Friends of the Whitehall Public Library and their subsequent 50 years of help. Special entertainment will be provided by writer, composer and director Jason Coll. All are welcome! Tickets can be purchased online.
Pricing: $20/person.

9. Murder Mystery Night in North Baldwin
Where?/When?: Michael's Restaurant & Lounge/Sunday, Oct. 9, 5-9 p.m.
Why Go?: Enjoy a wonderful sit-down dinner and be entertained by McCaffery Mysteries, Inc. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with cocktails. Dinner will be served at 6, followed by the show at 7:15. Tickets can be purchased prior to the show either at the restaurant, online or by calling 412-882-4707.
Pricing: $30/person includes dinner and show.

10. South Baldwin Firefighters Deliver Pizza
Where?/When?: Domino's Pizza (There's one on Route 51 in Brentwood Borough.)/Sunday, Oct. 9, 5-7 p.m.
Why Go?: The National Fire Protection Association and the South Baldwin Volunteer Fire Company have teamed up with the Brentwood Domino's Pizza to deliver free pizza to area residents from Oct. 9 to 15. When a fire truck arrives with your pizza, the firefighters will check for working smoke detectors. If all smoke detectors are working, the pizza is free! If the smoke detectors are not in working order, the firefighters will then give you a battery.
Pricing: Free if your detectors are working.
