Fall Sports Tryouts: Harrison Middle and Baldwin High Schools
Some activities start before classes do. Do you have your paperwork done?
Students interested in competing on sports teams at J.E. Harrison Middle and Baldwin High schools this coming fall season have some paperwork to complete.
Although classes for the Baldwin-Whitehall School District's 2012-13 school year won't start until Tuesday, Aug. 28, some of the district's fall sports teams start activites as early as Aug. 13.
But before athletes can begin any activities with district teams, they have to complete the required paperwork with their parents/guardians.
That paperwork (also available in the media gallery above), in three packets, is available here:
Included in those packets is paperwork for an authorized medical examiner to fill out upon completion of a physical. The physical must be dated for June 1, 2012, or later.
The following is a schedule of when tryouts will be held this summer for fall sports:

Robert - do you know where community members can order apparel to support our Baldwin Teams? I have heard hearsay that there is a store at the high school but I do not know if this is true nor the proper channels to go about purchasing (i.e. online, order form, catalog).
I never see Baldwin fan wear at stores like Giant Eagle and Walmart. It would be nice to show our student athletes that we support them both inside and outside the class room. I love Baldwin-Whitehall.
God bless you, Robert. I hope that you are having a wonderous day!
On a completely unrelated note, the sign promoting Community Day across from the Union Building on Baptist Rd. is very nice!

Sasafras,
During this past school year, the school board considering allowing B-W apparel to be sold at local stores. But the board ultimately rejected a plan that would have allowed this to happen.
For now (or at least when classes start), yes, there is B-W clothing sold at the high school bookstore.
Sports booster groups will also sell apparel during the school year.

Those MAY not benefit the district.

Robert I couldn't say if they benefit the school or not but I was at the store today and seen them. I do know when they have freshman orientation at the high school they do have some items there for sale. I volunteered last year and we were selling bags, shirts, hoodies and a few other things.

Thank you Jean and Robert. This is great information. I am curious as to why selling apparel in local stores would be rejected by the board? I only see this as a benefit to the school district, however I guess there may be an added cost to use such a distribution medium.
