Eight-Year-Old Girl Struck in Head by BB at Whitehall Place

Also, an early hour disturbance at Eat'n Park and vehicle damage at ManorCare in these Whitehall Borough police briefs from Oct. 12-17.

Eight-Year-Old Girl Struck in Head by BB at Whitehall Place

On Sunday, Oct. 16, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a woman from the 1600 block of Skyline Drive in the Whitehall Place Apartments complex called the Whitehall Police Department to report that her 8-year-old daughter had been struck in the head by a metal pellet while walking with her on Skyline.

In what Whitehall Borough police Chief Donald R. Dolfi called “a very lucky situation,” the girl was not seriously injured.

The woman and her daughter reported seeing a suspicious young boy in a nearby building looking out of a third-floor window at the two of them.

When officers arrived at the scene, they went to the apartment where that boy was and found a pellet rifle in his possession.

Due to the age of the boy, 13, and a language barrier with his family members, who do not speak English, Whitehall police have not determined if the boy intentionally shot at the girl or if he intentionally fired the gun at all. Dolfi said that juvenile charges are being considered against the boy but that none have been filed yet.

Public Intoxication Charge at Eat’n Park

Earlier on Sunday, at approximately 1:17 a.m., Whitehall police officers responded to the Eat’n Park on Route 51 at the request of an assistant manager there. The assistant manager had reported that a male customer was being loud, disorderly and disruptive to other customers.

The customer in question, whom police say smelled of an alcoholic beverage and was behaving as if he were intoxicated, was upset that a companion of his had claimed to have fallen in the restaurant’s lobby.

The assistant manager provided the man with contact information for Eat’n Park’s corporate office in order to file a complaint, but the man continued to be argumentative both in the store and in the Eat’n Park parking lot as he was leaving, Dolfi said.

Whitehall police are charging the man—Gilwood Jackson Jr., 23, of 438 E. Carter Drive in North Versailles Township—with public intoxication.

The person who claimed to have fallen did not request medical personnel.

Damaged Vehicle at ManorCare

On Saturday, Oct. 15, at approximately 1:54 p.m., a man who parked his 2010 Hyundai Sante Fe in the HCR ManorCare parking lot along Weyman Road at around 1:45 p.m. that day called the Whitehall Police Department to report that the passenger’s side of his Sante Fe had been significantly damaged.

Police searched the parking lot but did not find another vehicle or any other object that they believed was used to damage the victim’s vehicle.

Whitehall police are asking anyone with information related to the incident to call 412-884-1100.

Seriously, Jim? That is a cynical view.
