A heavy snow forecast has caused the cancellation of ALL after-school events at school buildings in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District today, Friday, Jan. 25, INCLUDING the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association concert at Baldwin High School.

Also, students will be dismissed early in the B-W School District, according to the district website, "in an effort to get all students home safely and on time."

Baldwin High will begin dismissal for all bus riders at 2:10 p.m. Dismissal at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin School, in Whitehall Borough, will begin at about 2:20 p.m.

J.E. Harrison Middle School will begin dismissal at 2:45 p.m., and the district's elementary schools will begin dismissal at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Dismissal times will depend on the time that buses are able to make it to each of the schools.

"Our goal is to start the process a bit early at the upper grade levels to avoid delays later in the bus schedule," the district's website states. "It is important that students arrive home to a caring adult and have access to their homes. If parents experience their own difficulties getting home from work, school, etc., please call the school office at least 15 minutes prior to the above stated dismissal times to arrange for you to pick your child up directly at the school.

"Staff members will be on hand to supervise children until you are able to get to the school."

Baldwin Community United Methodist Pre-school, in Whitehall, has canceled its PM preschool today, as well, according to KDKA.

Community College of Allegheny County has canceled all classes and activities at all of its locations for Friday, starting at 4 p.m.

The Young Scholars of Western Pennsylvania Charter School, in Baldwin Township, has canceled its "Extended Day" program for Friday. Young Scholars students taking a B-W School District bus will be dismissed at 2:50 p.m.

According to WPXI, the Dance Workshop by Shari, in Whitehall, and the Keystone Canine Club, in Baldwin Borough, have canceled their evening classes.
