UPDATES: Day Care Worker Arrested by Baldwin Police for Sexual Assault

Thomas Cottrill, 64, was arrested on Feb. 29 on charges of molesting a girl in 2004.

Baldwin Borough police arrested day care worker Thomas Cottrill, 64, on Wednesday on charges that Cotrill molested a 7-to-8-year-old girl in 2004.

Baldwin police made the arrest at the Nancy Podrat Group Day Care Home in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill South neighborhood, where Cottrill was employed.

Cotrill is charged with indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and indecent exposure. He is in the Allegheny County Jail and will have a preliminary hearing in the Wallace Building office of Magistrate John N. Bova of District Court 05-2-18 on Tuesday. UPDATE: Hearing postponed to April 17.

Baldwin police are involved because the accusations stem from when Cottrill babysat the girl while she lived with her family in Baldwin.

Cottrill did not meet the girl through his work at the day care center, but police are worried that other children may have been victimized. Anyone with information about other potential victims should call the Baldwin police at 412-882-9600, ext. 200.
