Brentwood (or Baldwin?) Parade Video Emerges from 1970s
Do you know which year (and which area) this is?
Patch reader "D.J.Cagney" recently posted a video to Patch's Pics & Clips gallery of a 1970s-era Brentwood Borough parade. But other readers have insisted that this is actually a video from a past Baldwin Community Day or other Baldwin event.
Cagney does not know exactly which year the video was captured. Do you? Also, is this Baldwin Borough or Brentwood Borough? Tell us in the comments section.
Though the video is silent, Cagney has layered music over the video—music that Cagney says is being performed by the Baldwin High School marching band in 1977. Listen to those bagpipes!
You, too, can add photos and/or videos to our Pics & Clips gallery. Just follow directions on the Pics & Clips page.

We're hearing that this may actually be a Baldwin Community Day parade. Can anyone confirm?

It looks like a Baldwin Community Day parade on Churchview Ave. Fr. Hannon use to be the pastor at St. Albert the Great Church and he was in one of the first cars in the video. Year? Lost on that one

The street does not look wide enough to be the Brentwood Parade on Brownsville Road.

It's definitely Baldwin - the vehicles are coming up Churchview & turning onto Glass Run - you can see Michael's restaurant in the background. I think St. A's used to have a parade to start their carnival week.

I agree with you guys. This is definitely Baldwin Borough! (Don't let the title of the video fool you.)

Looks like it's turning from Glass Run onto Churchview. Looks like Michael's restaurant on the corner.

I sent the video to my dad and he said that St. Albert's used to have a big parade to kick off the carnival. So it wasn't community day but St. Albert's parade.

My mom said that is Father Chatt in the back seat with Father Murphy, so this is from 1974 or later. We're not sure when Father C left the parish.

My mother doesn't remember a parade for the start of St A's carnival, but she is saying that this is community day and that the priests of St. A's used to give an invocation to open community day. Father Chatt left the parish in 1974. But can't figure out why the parade is coming up Churchview and turning onto Glass Run. So the video is 1974 or earlier.

I use to live on Churchview betwenn the fire hall and Willett. This is a St. Albert's Festival parade. They were coming up Churchview, turning on Glass Run, and then it would turn on to Schieck Street and go up to the Church. It looks to be circa 1972-73.

Wow, this made my day! The second band on the video is the Ringold band with my father in the white coat as director! I am currenly elementary band director at Brentwood and I think I was twirling a flag but the video is too blurry for me to know for sure. CSenko

CSenko, thanks for sharing! Do you know if this was a Brentwood or Baldwin parade? How about the year?
