'Break the Broncos' at Downtown Rally on Friday
Locals can cheer on the Pittsburgh Steelers before their first playoffs game this year.
It’s time to cheer on the Pittsburgh Steelers before their playoffs game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
A “Break the Broncos Rally” will be held around The Terrible Tree in the courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse on Friday, Jan. 6, at noon.
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl are asking those attending the rally to support the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank by bringing a canned good, non-perishable food item and/or cash donation for that organization.
WDVE’s Val Porter will serve as emcee of the event, and the band Kardaz will provide live music. Fans are encouraged to bring black and gold decorations and Steelers paraphernalia to adorn the 20-foot Terrible Tree.
Dunkin’ Donuts will provide limited free coffee, hot chocolate and coupons. There will also be a limited number of free giveaways courtesy of the Steelers and Hometowne Sports. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Steelers trivia contest for prizes provided by Panera Bread and the Allegheny County Parks Department.
Fitzgerald and Ravenstahl have declared Friday as “Black & Gold Day” around the Pittsburgh area and are encouraging everyone to show their support for the Steelers by donning the team’s colors.
