Baldwin-Whitehall Hires New Guidance Supervisor
Stephanie McHugh worked as a guidance counselor in Upper St. Clair for the past 10 years.
Stephanie McHugh was introduced as the Baldwin-Whitehall School District's new guidance supervisor at a B-W School Board meeting on Wednesday night.
The vote on a motion to hire McHugh was unanimous.
The board voted to welcome a guidance-supervisor position to the district for 2011-12 at a June 8 meeting with the purpose of that position being to oversee the district's guidance counselors and to help its students prepare for life after high school, including seeking grants for post-secondary education and helping students select the right higher-education programs and institutions.
McHugh worked as a guidance counselor at Upper St. Clair High School for the previous 10 years. Before that, she served in the same capacity at Mt. Lebanon High School for two years. She worked as a college admissions counselor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, her alma mater, for four years prior to that.
"After 10 years at Upper St. Clair, I have a lot of ideas, I have a lot of energy, and I'm happy to be part of the team here and bring that energy to Baldwin," she said.
McHugh's husband, David, is a 1981 graduate of Baldwin High School.
"It's not full-circle for me but sort of full-circle for my family," she said.
Stephanie is originally from the Johnstown, PA, area.
