Baldwin H.S. Students Doing Well on SATs
The school's average score ranks among the Pittsburgh region's best.
All of those ever-present teachers must be having a positive effect on Baldwin High School students.
Fresh off of news that the Baldwin-Whitehall School District has the lowest teacher absentee rate in southwestern Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Business Times has reported that Baldwin High students rank among the best in the Pittsburgh region for 2012 in terms of average total SAT score.
The Business Times used data from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to rank Baldwin 37th in the region with an average total score on the ubiquitous college-admission exam of 1,489 points (out of a possible 2,400).
According to the PDE website, 271 Baldwin students took the SAT in 2012, with the average verbal score being 493, the average math score being 519 and the average writing score being 477.
Baldwin's average total score the year before was 1,483, representing a positive change of 0.4 percent.
Upper St. Clair High School pulls in top honors for 2012, according to the Business Times, with an average total score of 1,727. But that score represents a 1.4-percent decrease for Upper St. Clair High, which notched an average of 1,748 in 2011.

Congratulations! Now how about those trades? Robert how about a monthly article on Steel Center? They have much to offer and regular updates would be a meaningful and interesting read since the trades are in high demand. If our district could incorporate college prep classes with trade classes...some maybe able to pay college loans off on skilled labor wages instead of minimum wage pay for those who won't qualify for student aid or low interest student loans.
