Baldwin Borough Police Briefs (Dec. 12-Jan. 2)

Three women are arrested on DUI charges, and a vehicle batteries theft is reported from Pittsburgh Mailing.

Woman Says She Was Texting When She Struck Parked Car

Baldwin Borough police officers arrived at the 5000 block of Doyle Road on Dec. 15 at around 3:18 a.m. for a report that a driver had struck a parked vehicle there.

The driver—Kimberly Ann Johnson, 27, of 324 Glencoe Drive in West Mifflin Borough—was at the scene and reportedly told police officers that she struck the car while she was reading a text message.

Johnson declined medical treatment, police said. Police also said that Johnson admitted to recently drinking alcohol prior to the accident.

Police put Johnson through field-sobriety and breath-analyzer tests and reported that she failed them all. She was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to the Baldwin police station, where a friend eventually picked her up.

In addition to the DUI charge, police are charging Johnson with careless driving, driving with a suspended vehicle registration and driving without car insurance (UPDATE: The careless driving, driving with a suspended vehicle registration and driving without car insurance charges have been withdrawn.)

DUI Arrest from Becks Run Road

A Baldwin Borough police officer reported observing a driver operating erratically on Becks Run Road at around 3:12 a.m. on Dec. 17.

The officer pulled the vehicle over after the driver—Sheena Boulding, 29, of 539 Hall St. in Aliquippa, PA—made a left turn onto Agnew Road from Becks Run. The officer said that Boulding failed to obey a red light before turning onto Agnew.

While speaking with Boulding, the officer reported detecting the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. The officer put her through field-sobriety tests, which he reported that she failed.

She was arrested for suspicion of DUI and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for a blood test. Results of that test are pending.

Police eventually released Boulding to a friend.

In addition to the DUI charge, police are charging Boulding with failure to signal while turning. (UPDATE: The turning charge was withdrawn on Aug. 27.)

Christmas Eve DUI Arrest

A Baldwin Borough police officer pulled a vehicle over in the 500 block of Becks Run at around 2:28 a.m. on Dec. 24. The officer reported that the vehicle’s windows were tinted to the extent that one could not see the inside of the vehicle.

While speaking with the driver of the vehicle in question—Daniella Cracco, 23, of 3262 Beechdale St. in Brentwood Borough—the officer reported detecting the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath. The officer put her through field-sobriety and breath-analyzer tests and reported that she failed them all.

She was arrested for suspicion of DUI and taken to the Baldwin police station. She was eventually released to her stepfather.

In addition to the DUI charge, police are charging Cracco with windshield obstruction.

(UPDATE: The windshield obstruction charge was dismissed on June 29.)
