Baldwin Boro Resident Supports Voter ID Measure
'Do yourself a big favor and get an ID.'
Jean F. Leuthold, a Baldwin Borough resident, writes about a controversial voter ID measure with an Aug. 1 letter to the editor of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
"What is it with all these people who object to obtaining an ID?" Leuthold asks, arguing that there are a number of other activities that are impossible to complete without one.
Read Leuthold's full letter here, where it's written, "Do yourself a big favor and get an ID—no matter what it takes. It will certainly be to your advantage."

I don't see anything wrong with the law as you need ID to do most everything else. If you go to an ER you need Photo ID

Yes, but not having a Photo ID will not prevent you from receiving medical care....not just you, but over 1 million Pennsylvanians, ....mostly low income, minorities, students and women, In other words, those who are most likely to vote Democrat. Last that I checked, this was still a democracy, unfortunately, the GOP sees this country as a conservative theocracy in perpetuity. so much fear, anger, hate, bigotry, homophobia and misogyny. The conservative write wingers fear everyone who doesn't think, worship, or look like them. shame! This is not the 1950's. This is 2012!

Paula there are many states that have made people show their ID's to vote 10 years ago. There are also arguments from Democrats that are for this IDEA but want to wait till 2016. These people had 9 months to get Photo ID, why wait till the last moment. I am all for showing voter ID

Since Leuthold feels so strongly, maybe s/he will volunteer to pick up those in need and drive them to the centers for an ID. Or, issue a birth certificate for those who were home birthed? Leupold exhibits the attitude of the Tea Party Republicans: "I got mine, the rest of you can go to hell". The so-called, "christian conservatives" need to practice the tenets of their religion.

Mark no where does it say that Leuthold is Tea Party Rupublican. Why is it only the Democrats that are boohooing about this not being fair. To get a Social Security Card you need Photo ID, to use an Emergency Room, Doctors Offices, some stores make you show photo ID to do a return, Banks. Only the democrats are crying because people won't get to vote more than once as Acorn did in the last election to get obama elected.

It is 2012, isn't it? In the 2012 I am amazed that there are still people out there who do not have any form of picture ID, especially when you realize all the reasons you need one in the 21st century. You need one to open a bank account, to do any banking activities with a bank employee, to go to a doctor's appointment, to pay a bill with a check at a store, to enroll for college courses, to obtain a passport, to purchase cigarettes, alcohol, etc. as well as get welfare, food stamps, etc. Just about everyone participates in at least one of those activities I have listed, possibly more.
Do you even know what people who belong to the Tea Party stand for? They started it because of the outrageous taxes going up and up ... Taxed Enough Already is what they stand for. How could anyone not agree, that is, unless you just want the government to tax you until you have absolutely nothing. They want lower taxes for everyone .. you and me. They are workers like you and me.
So, we have to have ID to vote. Fine. People out there are saying that having to have ID will ensure that Romney wins the election. Doubtful. But, on the other hand, is the result of NOT having to show ID ensuring that Obama wins the election? So, what do we do?

Get A Clue you are correct. Those complaints on the other Patch article were written by a blogger that people stood up for. You need Photo ID for most everything. These democrats are afraid obama can't win with people showing ID. If that is the case then how many illegal votes got him in the first time.

Here is the website from the Post Gazette to check and see if your able to vote this fall. You type your first name, last name and year you were born on there.

I checked my fathers name also, he passed away 15 years ago and he is still allowed to vote.

Looks like I am screwed. My voter registration is one name and my drivers license is another. What do I do now?

I would only say that this bill was forced through for one reason and the Republican Turzai?? sp said it best- " This will ensure that Romney wins the votes in Pennsylvania" end quote. They forced this through for one reason and one reason only!!! They could have taken their time and given people enough time to acquire the proper ID. In fact one term Tom doesnt even know the facts of the bill he signed......there is one way to get around this attempt to cull the voting public....if you have no ID then fill out an absentee ballot....no ID needed.

Pennsylvania wasn't the only state that passed this law. There are now 34 states that require ID to vote. 14 states this year voted in showing ID to vote. All people in all states should be showing id to vote. democrats are afraid obama won't get in with all the illegals that voted in the last election and shouldn't of been voting to begin with.
