The Baldwin-Whitehall Patch has partnered with the Baldwin Historical Society to bring you a weekly trivia question that delves into our area's colorful past.
Pat Lombardi and Patty Woehler, co-presidents of the society, generously write the questions and provide the pictures.
Here is this week's question:
This building was the meeting place of the Baldwin Hunting Club.
Notice the straw hats in the foreground.
The building was known as the George E. Piel Hotel from 1910 to 1922, and during prohibition, it was a speakeasy.
A Republican dinner party was held here in 1920.
In 1922, it became the home of the Michael Gardill family.
This building is still standing. Where is it?

It looks like the building behind Paiges Icecream shop on BecksRun Road. It's now for sale, was at least 2 bars and my lifetime and is definitely an historic landmark. I know it was once a school and this building has the same architecture ; windows and all!
