B-W Bus Driver Accused of Sex with Boy

The 73-year-old is a Brentwood Borough resident.

William Scherz, a Baldwin-Whitehall School District bus driver, is accused of driving to Elizabeth Township to have sex with a 15-year-old boy, according to a WPXI report.

Scherz, 73, of Brentwood Borough, was taken to the Allegheny County Jail on charges of corruption of minors, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and statutory sexual assault, among others. He eventually made bail, was released and is scheduled to appear at District Magistrate Beth Scagline Mills' Route 51 office on Jan. 28 (UPDATE: continued to Feb. 25 and then to March 18).

WPXI's report states, "According to police, Scherz was off duty on Jan. 22 when he drove to Elizabeth Township and had sex with the 10th-grade boy."

Police found Scherz's false teeth on the boy's couch. Scherz has maintained that the relationship was consensual and that he did not know that the boy was a minor.

Scherz is not currently driving a B-W School District bus.

I would hope he isn't driving a bus anymore but I suppose that won't be until after he is found guilty at the hearing. ???

I heard it was bus #41. So he is out on bail, when is the school district going to respond to this? Was he terminated now?

Daily vigilance of self response is the best response...it protects all our grapes so they reach full maturity to produce their own fine wine to share.

This is just a picture of one of the buses that Baldwin uses. I'm sure they won't be saying anything on this matter and leaving it to the police and courts to decide. I heard he was also put on leave till this case goes to court after all he is innocent until proven guilty.

HIs bale was set for 10,000 dollars which he only had to pay 1000 in cash. Today was an preliminary hearing. He was granted a continuence due to him just retaining his lawyer on friday. He is still out and on the loose. For pictures go to mugshots.com it's not up yet, but I am sure it will be eventually.

I don't believe so, but my inquiry to the district has not been returned.

Yes, It was bus 41. He drove the high school kids to and from to the private catholic school. I am not sure what other runs he had. They seek out these kind of jobs to be around the kids. I believe every parent of every single student who drove his bus should be notified by the school district. I had to play detective when I first found out. Baldwin is being Hush Hush. Mr. Bill the phedophile was a school bus driver, How sick is that. Good job baldwin.

Obviously the school district never had a complaint from a parent or student for this man for inappropriate conduct, so why should the district notify anyone? I don't think the district has done anything wrong. Unfortunately we had a sick man working for the district, but he obviously had never been caught before. Thankfully he apparently never approached any of the students.

Sad if true.I wonder about the drivers age. 73 and still be able to perform. I just don't see that happening. I hope that it didn't

All personnel- working in any capacity with children- must undergo background checks prior to being employed in any school district in PA. Baldwin's bus drivers are district employees since we own our own buses. Some districts contract their bus drivers through other bus companies, such as Matthews Bus Company. A person who has never been convicted of a crime could POTENTIALLY become hired as a driver. If Mr. Scherz's background clearances were "clean", the school district did nothing wrong.
