The FBI is working with the Whitehall Police Department in an effort to track down a man who robbed the Parkvale Bank at Caste Village on Christmas Eve.

Whitehall Borough police Chief Donald R. Dolfi said that the man robbed the bank at gunpoint at around 1:48 p.m. on Dec. 24. The Whitehall police received an alarm notification from the bank at around that time, but when they arrived at the bank, which is located in Suite 650 of Caste Village on Grove Road, the man was gone.

The Whitehall police were joined at the scene by officers from the nearby Baldwin Borough, Brentwood Borough, Castle Shannon Borough and Mt. Lebanon police departments. The Mt. Lebanon police brought a K-9 unit.

The man is described as approximately 6-feet tall with a medium build. He left the bank wearing sunglasses, a dark three-quarter-length coat, a dark brimmed hat and dark gloves. He also wore a mask.

The man stole an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the bank and heading toward the Caste Village Commons—the indoor "mall" area of the shopping center.

Dolfi said that it is assumed that the man headed down a pathway toward Weyman Road.

An FBI agent joined local police officers at the scene and is working with the Whitehall police to try to find the man. The Allegheny County Crime Lab has processed the scene for evidence.

Officers are viewing video surveillance from Parkvale Bank and are trying to get video from other nearby businesses, as well.
