Another Theft-from-Vehicle Victim in Whitehall
And three other stories in these borough police notes.
Theft from Vehicle
Whitehall Borough police received a call from a resident of the 3200 block of Longwood Drive on Friday. The resident reported that, sometime during Thursday night or Friday morning, somebody went into his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in his driveway and removed 15-20 $1 bills and some personal keys, Whitehall police Deputy Chief Richard M. Danko said.
The theft is under investigation.
There have been numerous theft-from-vehicle cases reported recently in Whitehall and Baldwin boroughs.
"Note to all readers," Danko said on Jan. 15, "lock your cars."
A Whitehall police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle leaving Wallace (Prospect) Park at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday and stopped the vehicle on Skyline Drive, Danko said.
The officer spoke with the vehicle's driver—Christopher Jose Martinez, 21, of 1446 Walton Rd. in Jefferson Hills Borough—and Martinez admitted to being in possession of a small amount of marijuana, Danko said.
Martinez is being charged with that offense.
Whitehall police responded to a disturbance at 1595 Bevan Rd.—a Bevan Apartments building—in the Prospect Park area on Sunday and found two males who were involved in an altercation there, Danko said.
Both men—Mahesh Biswa, 22, of 285 Greenlee Rd., No. 2, in Brentwood Borough, and Kabiraj Gurung, 24, of 1595 Bevan, No. 22—showed signs of intoxication, Danko said, and were issued citations for public drunkenness.
