The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Allegheny County beginning Tuesday night and lasting into Wednesday morning.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected in our area, and the advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. on Tuesday until 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Accumulation of 1 to 2 inches of snow along with a light glaze from freezing rain is expected. The weather could cause hazardous travel conditions due to snow, sleet and ice-covered roads. Motorists should use caution.

Here's a look at, roughly, the Baldwin-Whitehall forecast through Wednesday night from the National Weather Service:

  • Tuesday Night—Rain, snow, freezing rain and sleet before 3 a.m., then snow, freezing rain and sleet likely between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., then rain, snow, freezing rain and sleet likely after 5 a.m. Low around 30. East wind of 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of less than 1 inch is possible.
  • Wednesday—A chance of rain, snow and sleet before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of rain between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 40. East wind of 5 to 9 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half-inch is possible.
  • Wednesday Night—Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. West wind of 11 to 16 mph.

This forecast, of course, is subject to change.
